Terminology

Ch = chain

Sc = single crochet (2sc1 means 2 single crochet in same ch)

Sl st = slip stitch

St = stitch (refers to number of stitches in one round)

Hdc = half double crochet

Dc = double crochet (yarn over 1x)

Tc = treble crochet (yarn over 2x)

Dtc = double treble crochet (yarn over 3x)

Sc2tog1 = single crochet decrease

Bobble stitch = 4 double crochet bobble (4dc bob)

Surface sc = single crochet directly onto surface

2.0mm Clover crochet hook

Orion Top Deluxe Yarn, Crown Yarn (or any equivalent acrylic yarn) - algae green, light brown, white, black, yellow, light blue, beige

Darning needle

Stitch markers

Filling – use leftover yarn or polyester fiberfill

4mm glass eyes or safety eyes

Head– algae green

Round 1: Magic ring 6 – 6st

Round 2: 2sc1, (4dc bobble st, sc1) x 3, 2sc2 – 12st

Round 3: Sc12 – 12st

Round 4: (Sc1, 2sc1) x 6 – 18st

Round 5: (Sc2, 2sc1) x 6 – 24st

Round 6: (Sc2, sc2tog1) x 6 – 18st

Round 7: (Sc1, sc2tog1) x 6 – 12st

Round 8: Sc2tog6 – 6st

Continue into body from head using algae green yarn.

Body

Round 10: Sc2, 2sc4 (algae green) – 10st

Round 11: 2sc10 (algae green)– 20st

Round 12: Sc8 (algae green), 9th arm, sc7 (algae green), 17th arm, sc3 (algae green) – 20st

  • Arms (at 9th and 17th position): 4dc bobble stitch, top and bottom half all algae green

Round 13: (Sc2, sc2tog1) x 5 (algae green) – 15st

Round 14: Sc15 (algae green) – 15st

Round 15: Sc15 (light blue) – 15st (to attach the skirt later)

Round 16: [Sc2, 2sc1 (algae green)] x 2, sc2 (algae green), 11th leg + sc1 (algae green) in same st, sc2 (algae green), 2sc1 (algae green), sc1 (algae green), 18th leg, 2sc1 (algae green) – 20st

  • Legs (at 11th and 18th position): 4dc bobble stitch, top and bottom half all algae green – 20st

Round 17: Magic ring 10 then 2sc10, to join up to round 16 (all algae green) – 20st

Snout– light brown

Round 1: Ch4, sc2, 3sc1, go around, sc1, 2sc1 – 8st

Round 2: Sc8 – 8st

Round 3: Sc2, sc2tog1, sc2, sc2tog1 – 6st

Nose– black

Ch2, sc2, fold upon itself to form small ball
Plus tailing vertical string down the snout from nose in midline, extending downwards.

Chin / lower lip – light brown

Round 1: Magic ring 3 – 3st

Round 2: Sc3 – 3st

Round 3-4: Repeat round 2 – 3st

To be placed right underneath the snout.
Alternatively, can do basic crochet cord, with total 4 layers. 

Outer Ears x 2 – algae green

Magic ring 5 – 5st

Inner Ears x 2 – beige

Magic ring 3 – 3st
Form a smaller circle
Join up the inner ears to the front of the outer ears.

Eyes x 2 – white

Ch2, hdc1, sl st 1 in same st
Add black strings as eyebrows over both eyes as horizontal lines and extend downwards as vertical lines along the sides of the white eye patches, until reaches snout.

Scarf – yellow

Ch23

Flower

Round 1: Magic ring 4 (yellow) – 4st

Round 2: [Ch3 (change colour to white), sc2 down ch, sl st back on same st on magic ring, sc1 onto next main st], repeat 4 more times (all white)

Skirt – light blue

Round 1: Surface sc 15 (at blue belt border on body), turn – 15st

Round 2: Skip 1st st, sc1 then ch2 and sl st 1 backwards on ch, sl st back on next main st, (ch2 and sl st 1 backwards on ch, sl st back on next main ch) repeat 14 more times, all around skirt

Assembly

Ears

  • Attach the joint 2 ears on either side of head, at the 2nd row.

Snout

  • Place snout about halfway down the head, right in the middle.
  • Attach the nose over the tip of the snout, plus tailing vertical string down the snout from nose in midline, extending downwards.
  • Place chin (or lower lip) below the snout and sew down around it like a smile.
  • Add black strings as a smile over the bottom of the snout, extending to either ends as horizontal lines.

Eyes

  • Place the 2 white eye patches just above the snout, right next to each other.
  • Attach the glass eyes at bottom of the white eye patches.
  • Add black strings as eyebrows over both eyes as horizontal lines and extend downwards as vertical lines along the sides of the white eye patches, until reaches snout.

Flower

  • Attach on the right side of head, between the right ear and the bobble stitches over head.

Scarf

  • Wrap scarf around neck and join up in the front, just above left arm.

Skirt

  • As mentioned above, directly crocheted onto body
