Crochet Bear Purse

SUPPLIES

approx 100 gr cotton yarn (e.g. Schachenmayr Cotton Time 80m/50g) crochet hook 3,5 mm, 2 black beads or safety eyes, 1 button, scissors, yarn needle.

INSTRUCTIONS

FRONT

Rnd 1: Chain 4 stitches, join with sl st into ring. Ch3, 11dc into ring, sl st (12 M).

Rnd 2: ch3, dc in the same st as ch, 2 dc in each of next 11 sts, sl st to top of ch 3 (24 stitches)

Rnd 3: ch 3, dc in the same st as ch, dc in next st, *2 dc in next st, dc in next st*, repeat from*to* 11 times, sl st to top of ch 3 (36 stitches)

Rnd 4: ch 3, dc in the same st as ch, dc in next st, *2 dc in next st, dc in each of next 2 st*, repeat from*to* 11 times, sl st to top of ch 3 (48 stitches)

Rnd 5: ch 3, dc in the same st as ch, dc in next st, *2 dc in next st, dc in each of next 3 st*, repeat from*to* 11 times, sl st to top of ch 3 (60 stitches)

Rnd 6: ch 3, dc in the same st as ch, dc in next st, *2 dc in next st, dc in each of next 4 st*, repeat from*to* 11 times, sl st to top of ch 3 (72 stitches)

Rnd 7: ch 3, dc in the same st as ch, dc in next st, *2 dc in next st, dc in each of next 5 st*, repeat from*to* 11 times, sl st to top of ch 3 (84 stitches)

Rnd 8: ch 3, dc in the same st as ch, dc in next st, *2 dc in next st, dc in each of next 6 st*, repeat from*to* 11 times, sl st to top of ch 3 (96 stitches)

Don’t cast off!

FLAP

Flap will be worked on 28 stitches as follows:

Row 1: ch3, skip next 2 sts, *5 dc in next st, skip next 3 sts*, repeat from* to* 6 times, skip next 2 sts, 1 dc in next st, turn

Row 2: ch1, sc in the same st as ch, *ch5, skip next shell, sc between two shells*, repeat from* to* till the end of row, turn

Row 3: ch3, *5 dc in ch-5 space*, repeat from* to* till the end of row, 1 dc into last st, turn

Rows 4-9: Repeat rows 2 and 3 three times

Row 10: ch1, sc in the same st as ch, *ch5, skip next shell, sc between two shells*, repeat from* to* till the end of the row, sc in last st, turn.

Row 11: ch3, 1 dc in ch-5 space, *5 dc in next ch-5 space*, repeat from* till the end of the row, 1 dc in ch-5 space, 1 dc in last st, turn

Row 12: ch1, sc in next st, *ch5, skip next shell, sc between two shells*, repeat from* till the end of the row, turn.

Row 13: ch3, 1 dc in ch-5 space, *5 dc in next ch-5 space*, repeat from* till the end of the row, 1 dc in next ch-5 space, 1 dc in last st, turn

Row 15: ch3, 3 dc in next ch-5 space, ch3 (this will be a button loop), 3 dc in next ch-5 space, 1 dc in last st, turn.

All around the flap work 1 row in sc or reverse single crochet.

BACK

Rnd 1: Chain 4 stitches, join with sl st into ring. Ch3, 11dc into ring, sl st (12 M).

Rnd 2: ch3, dc in the same st as ch, 2 dc in each of next 11 sts, sl st to top of ch 3 (24 stitches)

Rnd 3: ch 3, dc in the same st as ch, dc in next st, *2 dc in next st, dc in next st*, repeat from*to* 11 times, sl st to top of ch 3 (36 stitches)

Rnd 4: ch 3, dc in the same st as ch, dc in next st, *2 dc in next st, dc in each of next 2 st*, repeat from*to* 11 times, sl st to top of ch 3 (48 stitches)

BOTTOM

Row 1: ch18, dc in the 5th st from hook and each of next 13 sts, turn

Row 2: (working in the back loop) ch3, dc in each of next 14 sts, turn

Repeat Row 2 ca 34 cm.

All around the bottom crochet 1 Rnd in sc´s.

STRAP

Row 1: ch7, dc in the 4th st from hook and each of next 3 sts, turn.

Row 2: (working in the back loop) ch3, dc in each of next 4 sts, turn.

Repeat Row 2 as many times as you wish to achieve preferred strap length. The strap on my bag is 80 cm long

MUZZLE

Rnd 1: 12dcin a magic ring.

Rnd 2: ch3, dc in the same st as ch, 2 dc in each of next 11 st, sl st to top of ch 3 (24 stitches).

Rnd 3: ch 3, dc in the same st as ch, dc in next st, *2 dc in next st, dc in next st*, repeat from*to* till the end of Rnd, sl st to top of ch 3 (36 stitches).

Rnd 4: dc in each of next 36 sts.

Bind off, leaving a long tail for sewing.

SPOUT

Can be embroidered or crocheted.

Row 1: ch4, 3 dc in the 4th chain from hook, turn.

Row 2: ch3 and 1 dc in the same st, dc in ech of next 2 sts, 2 dc in the last st, turn.

Row 3: ch3 and 1 dc in the same st, dc in ech of next 4 sts, 2 dc in the last st, turn.

All around the spuot crochet 1 Rnd in sc´s.

Bind off, leaving a long tail for sewing.

EAR (2x)

Rnd 1: 12 dcin a magic ring.

Rnd 2: ch3, dc in the same st as ch, 2 dc in each of next 11 st, sl st to top of ch 3 (24 stitches).

Rnd 3-4: dc in each of next 12 stitches.

Rnd 5: *dec, dc in each of next 8 sts, dec* twice

The ear will curve around so it looks more three dimensional. Flatten the ear.

Bind off and leave a long tail.

ASSEMBLY

Seam both sides with the bottom of the bag.

Sew ears on the bag. Use pins to keep it in place. Attach it with the long tail.

Attach eyes. Sew on muzzle (stuff slightly before fully sewing shut) and spout.

Embroider eyebrows.

Sew handle to the purse.

Sew button on and weave in all ends.
