Crochet Freedom Flower Square

Materials:
RH 4 ply Color A = White, Color B = Red, Color C = Blue,

Crochet Hook: Size G for 7" square, or size needed for gauge. Size G for edging.

Gauge: 7"

Note:

Blocking: Block lightly and briefly with a warm damp pressing cloth on the reverse side of the square with a med-hot iron.

Joining: Join each new color by yo and drawing through last two loops of stitch before.

Pattern Stitches

V Stitch (v-st.):

(dc, ch 1, dc)

Instructions

Round 1:

With Color A and Size G hook, make a loop. Ch 1, work 20 sc in loop. Join with a sl st in first st. Draw loop closed.

Round 2:

Ch 1, working around sc of Round 1, *insert hook into center, yo. Draw up a loop, even with working round. Finish sc. Continue from * 23 times more, making sure work lays flat and smooth. 24 long scs. Join with sl st in first sc. FO Color A.

Round 3:

Join Color B in any stitch. Ch 1. In same st * work (sc, hdc, 2 dc). In next st work ( 2 dc, hdc, sc). Sk 1 st. Continue from * around. 8 petals. Join with a sl st in first sc. FO Color B.

Round 4 :

Join Color C with a sl st in skipped st of Round 3, working behind petals. Ch 1, sc in same st. Ch 4, sc in next skipped st. Ch 7 for corner, * sc in next skipped st. Ch 4, sc in next skipped st, ch 7 for corner. Continue form * around. Join with a sl st in first sc. 8 loops.

Round 5:

Sl st in ch 4 sp, ch 3. Work 2 more dc in same sp. In corner ch 7 sp work (5 dc, ch 2, 5 dc). * In next ch 4 space work 3 dc. Work corner in next ch 7 sp. Continue from * around. Join with a sl st in top of ch 3.

Round 6:

Ch 1, sc in same st. Sc in next 7 sts. *In corner work 3 sc, sc in next 13 sts. Continue from * around, ending sc in next 5 sts. Sk ch 1, join with a sl st in first sc. FO Color C.

Round 7:

Join Color A in corner st. Work (ch 3, dc, ch 2, 2 dc). Skip 1 st, * work (v-st in next st, sk 1 st). 7 times. 7 v-sts. Work corner ( 2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc). Continue from * around. Join with a sl st in top of ch 3. FO Color A.

Round 8:

Join Color B in corner with a sl st. Work (ch 2, hdc, ch 1, 2 hdc). * Work 2 hdc in sp between next two dc, work 2 hdc in each v-st across, work 2 hdc in sp between last 2 dc, work corner (2 hdc, ch 1, 2 hdc). Continue from * around. Join with a sl st in top of ch 2. Sl st to center.

Round 9:

*In corner sp work 3 sc, work sc across next 22 sts. Continue from * around. Join with a sl st in first sc. FO Color B.

Finish off and weave in all ends.
