Crochet Framed Flower Square

Size: 12 inches

Materials: worsted weight yarn in 3 colours
I used Red Heart's country rose(violet in second pic) (A), pine(B), and white(C)
size G hook (4.5mm)

Stitches: beg. cluster: ch2, holding last loop on hook, work 2 dc in same st, yo, draw through 3 loops.
cluster: holding last loop of each stitch on hook, work 3 dc in same st, yo, draw through 4 loops.

With col A, ch5, join.
1. ch3, 15 dc in ring, join to top of ch3.
2. Beg cl. (ch1, cl in next st) around. Ch1, join to top of beg. cluster. FO.
3. Join B in any ch1 space. Beg cluster. Ch2(cluster in next ch1space, ch2) around. Join to top of beg cl, FO.
4.Join C in top of any cluster. Ch2, hdc in ch2 space. Dc around ch into top of cluster in rnd 2, hdc in same space. [Hdc in top of cluster, (hdc, dc in cluster below, hdc) in next ch2 space] around. Join to top of ch2. FO.
5. Join B in any st. Ch1, sc in same st and in each st around. Join, FO.
6. Join C in any st, work in blps only. Ch3, dc in same st. (dc in 3 sts, 2dc in next) around. Dc in last 3 sts, join to top of ch3, FO.
7. Attach A in any st. Ch3, 4dc in same st. *work sk1 st, 2dc, 4hdc, 5sc, 4hdc, 2dc across to next corner* sk next st, 5dc in corner st.** Repeat from *to ** twice, then * to * once. Join. FO.
8. Join C in centre st of any corner. Ch4, 4tr in same st. *work 1tr, 3dc, 4hdc, 5sc, 4hdc, 3dc, tr across to next corner.* 5tr in corner** repeat * to ** twice, then * to * once. Join. FO.
9. Attach B in centre st of any corner. Beg. cl, (ch2, cl) in same st.* Ch2, (sk1 st, cl in next, ch1) 11 times. sk1 st, cl in next ch2* (cl, ch2, cl) in corner st.** repeat from * to ** twice, then * to * once, join, FO.
10. Join C in any corner ch2 space. Ch2, 4hdc in same st. *hdc in top of cluster, dc around ch and into skipped st of round below. Repeat from *, working 5hdc in ea corner space.
11. Attach B in any st. Ch1, sc in same st. ; Sc around, working 3 sc in each corner st. Join, FO.
12. In blps only: attach C in any st . Ch3. Dc around, working 5 dc in each corner st. Join, FO.
13. With A, repeat round 11.  FO, weave in ends.

This square would also make a good potholder! End after round 6, and join two pieces wrong sides together with sc around. For hanging loop, ch12 before joining to first sc. For an added touch, complete 1 round of sc, then do a rippled effect, adding hanging loop before joining and finishing off.
