Here is one more interesting stitch pattern, I think, that it can be used for sweaters or maybe scarves. What do you think?

Steps to knit Flag Stitch:

Step 1: Abbreviations: k: knit, p: purl, rep: repeat, sts: stitches

Step 2: Cast On in Multiples of 7, plus 1

Step 3: Row 1: K1, * P1, K6 * Repeat pattern between the * * asterisks

Step 4: Row 2: * P5, K2 *, P1

Step 5: Row 3: K1, * P3, K4 *

Step 6: Row 4: * P3, K4 *, P1

Step 7: Row 5: K1, * P5, K2 *

Step 8: Row 6: P1, * K6, P1 *

Step 9: Repeat these 6 rows until your piece is the length you desire.
