Crochet Flag Washcloth or Dishcloth

Flag Washcloth – Dishcloth Pattern

Hook:
G (4 mm) USA crochet hook

Materials:
3/4 oz white cotton yarn
3/4 oz red cotton yarn
1/4 oz blue cotton yarn

Description:
8-1/2 inch Square Washcloth or Dishcloth

Directions:
Row 1
With white yarn, Ch 29, then Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in ea st down to last st. On last loop of last st drop white yarn and pick up red yarn. (28)

On all color changes, draw up new color on last loop of color you are dropping. Do this method on all color changes as described on row 1. Leave yarn you dropped on side and pick back up as directed. Don’t cut any yarn until advised to do so.

Row 2-3
With red yarn, Ch 1, turn. Sc in ea st. On last st of row 3 drop red yarn on last loop and pick up white yarn again from side where you left it from end of row 1.

Row 4-5
With white yarn, Ch 1, turn. Sc in ea st. On last st of row 5 drop white yarn on last loop and pick up red yarn.

Row 6-7
With red, Ch 1, turn. Sc in ea st. On last st of row 7, drop red yarn and pick up white as you have been doing on prior rows.

Continue repeating rows 4-5 and rows 6-7 until you complete 19 rows in pattern. At end of row 19, drop red yarn and pick up white in last loop.

Row 20

With white yarn, Ch 1, turn. Sc in next 16 sts, on last loop of st, drop white yarn and pick up blue yarn. With blue yarn on hook now, Sc in last 12 sts of row.

Crochet Flag Washcloth or Dishcloth

Row 21
Continuing with blue yarn, Ch 1, turn. Sc in next 12 sts, drop blue yarn on last loop of and pick up white yarn. Sc in last 16 sts of row with white yarn. On last loop of st, pick up red yarn and drop white.

Row 22
With red yarn, Ch 1, turn. Sc in next 16 sts, on last loop of st, drop red yarn and pick up blue again. Sc with blue in last 12 sts of row.

Row 23
Ch 1, turn. Sc in next 12 sts, drop blue yarn on last loop and pick up red yarn and Sc in last 16 sts. On last loop, drop red yarn and pick up white.

Row 24
With white, Ch 1, turn. Sc in next 16 sts, dropping white and picking up blue in last loop, Sc in last 12 sts.

Row 25
Ch 1, turn. Sc in next 12 sts, drop blue yarn on last loop and pick up white yarn and Sc in last 16 sts.

Continue repeating Row 22-25 working 2 rows of red with the blue on the ends and then two rows of white with the blue on the ends. Until you get to row 32.

Row 32
Picking up white yarn, Sc in next 16 sts in established pattern, drop white in last loop and pick up blue yarn. Sc in the last 12 sts with blue. FO blue.

Crochet Flag Washcloth or Dishcloth

Trim Row:
Attach white yarn at right corner with right side facing. R/S facing will have the blue corner in the upper left hand side as you look at cloth.

Sc around evenly on all sides, working 2 Sc sts in the corners. Join with Sl St to the beginning Sc st. FO.
