Kimono Sweater Knitting Pattern
Lion Brand Wool Ease Thick & Quick (2 skeins)
Size 13 knitting needles
Finished sweater measures 24″ across chest and 14″ from top of shoulder to hem
Gauge: 3 sts= 1 inch
(Note: Kimono is knit in one piece starting at the back hem)
Back
Cast on 28 sts. Work in K1, P1 ribbing for 1 1/2 inches. Work in Stockinette stitch for 8 inches from cast on edge, end with a Wrong Side row.
Shape Sleeves Cast on 8 sts at beg of next 2 rows – 44 sts. Continue in Stockinette st until piece measures 13 1/2 inches from beg, end with a Wrong Side row.
Shape Neck
Next Row: K16 sts and slip to stitch holder for Right Front, join 2nd ball of yarn and bind off next 12 sts for Back neck, knit to end for Left Front.
Left Front Working on 16 sts of Left Front only, work 5 more rows in Stockinette stitch. Next Row (RS): K2, yo, knit to end – 17 sts. Next Row: Purl to 2 sts before end of row, yo, p2 – 18 sts. Repeat last 2 rows until there are 36 sts on needle. Sleeve should measure 11 in. from cast-on edge, end with a Right Side row.
Shape Sleeve Next Row (WS): Bind off 8 sts, purl to end. Continue even in St st until piece measures 27 inches. from beg, end with a WS row. Work K1, P1 ribbing for 1 1/2 inches. Bind off.
Right Front Slip sts for Right Front from stitch holder to needle. Starting with a WS row, work as for Left Front reversing shaping.
Sew side and sleeve seams. Weave in ends.
Crochet 2 12″ ties on the inside- one under the arm and the other of the side. This will keep the inside flap in place when the sweater is closed.
