Crochet Glasses Case with Bobbles

You’ll need:

1 ball of Enamel Blue (17) or Sandshell (5);

2 mini balls in Paper White (100);

Crochet hooks 3,5 mm and 4 mm.

Size: 9 cm x 18 cm

Used Patterns

Bobbles: Join in your white by placing the yarn over the hook, work 7 TR all into the next stitch, leaving the last loop of each TR on the hook.

Instructions

Foundation: Make a chain of 32.

Row 1: Starting in the second chain from the hook, work a row of DC.

Chain 1 and turn at the end. (31 sts)

Row 2: Work a row of DC. Chain 1 and turn at the end.

Row 3: DC3, make a bobble in the next stitch, *DC 5, make a bobble in the next stitch*

Repeat from * to * to the end of the row, working 3 DC after your final bobble.

Chain 1 and turn.

After each bobble, cut your yarn leaving a tail long enough to sew in at the end.

Rows 4 to 8: DC, chain 1 and turn.

Row 9: DC 6, make a bobble in the next stitch, *DC 5, make a bobble in the next stitch*

Repeat from * to * to the end of the row, working 6 DC after your final bobble.

Chain 1 and turn.

Rows 10 to 14: DC, chain 1 and turn.

Row 15: DC3, make a bobble in the next stitch, *DC 5, make a bobble in the next stitch*

Repeat from * to * to the end of the row, working 3 DC after your final bobble.

Chain 1 and turn.

Rows 16 to 20: DC, chain 1 and turn.

Row 21: DC 6, make a bobble in the next stitch, *DC 5, make a bobble in the next stitch*

Repeat from * to * to the end of the row, working 6 DC after your final bobble.

Chain 1 and turn.

Continue working alternate rows of Bobble Row 1 and Bobble 2, with 5 rows of DC between each bobble row. In total, I worked 5 bobble rows.

After your final bobble row work 6 rows of DC.

Finish off and sew in ends.

Assembly

To join your case, fold the case in half, from side to side with the right sides together and join the two edges together by working a row of DC through both pieces.

Finish off and sew in the ends.

As the seam will be in the center back of your case, lay out your work so that the seam runs down the center, and then work another row of DC along the bottom of the case.

(The bottom is the end where there are only three rows of DC before your first bobble row.)

Finish off and sew in ends.

Turn your case the right way out, so that your seams are neatly tucked away on the inside.

Border

You are now going to work your border of puff/bobble stitch, using the white DK yarn and a 3.50mm hook.

With the RS of the work facing you, join your yarn into the back of your case, on the left-hand side of your center back seam.

(This round is worked on the reverse, but when you turn it around you will see that the bobbles are on the correct side.)

Work a DC.

To make your puff stitch bobble: Yarn over and pull up to roughly TR height, repeat this 4 more times all in to the same stitch.

Yarn over and pull through all the loops on your hook.

Chain 1 and then Sl St in to the next stitch.

Work another puff bobble into the next stitch.

Repeat the pattern of 1 puff bobble, 1 Sl St all the way around the top of the case.

Finish off by joining with a Sl St, and sew in the ends.
