Materials:

  • Size I, 5.5 mm crochet hook
  • Medium weight (size 4) yarn in yellow, orange and black
  • Tapestry needle
  • Safety Eyes

Final measurement:

Measures 6.5″ wide x 4″ long x 1.5″ depth.

Abbreviations:

st(s)- stitch(es)

hk- hook

sc- single crochet

hdc- half double crochet

dc- double crochet

sl st- slip stitch

BLO- back loop only

Body (with yellow yarn):

Chain 12

Round 1: Hdc in 2nd ch from hk and next 9 chains. 5 hdc in end ch, hdc next 10 chains down the other side of the foundation ch, 5 hdc in last ch, sl st to join (30).

Round 2: Ch 2 (doesn’t count as a st), hdc next 10 sts, 2 hdc in the next 5 sts, hdc 10, 2 hdc in last 5 sts, sl to join (40).

Round 3: Ch 2 (doesn’t count as a st), hdc next 10 sts, [2hdc in net st, hdc in next st] x 5 times, hdc 10, [2hdc in next st, hdc in next st] x 5 times, sl st to join (50).

Round 4: Ch 1 (doesn’t count as a st), sc in the BLO in each st around. (50).

***You will now work in the round, place stitch marker here if you need to***

Rounds 5-7: Sc in each st around, sl st to join (50).

Fasten off, weave in ends.

Ears (Make 2 with yellow yarn):

Make a magic circle and ch 2, dc 7 in the circle and pull to close.

Fasten off leaving a long tail.

With tapestry needle sew ears onto the top of the holder on either side.

Weave in ends.

Maine (with yellow and orange yarn):

Cut 8″ strands of yellow and orange yarn.

Start with either color anywhere on the last round.

Insert your hook in the st and pull the middle of the yarn through.

Yarn over and pull through both strands.

Insert hook in each st around (work around the ears) alternating each color.

Trim to 3/4″ or desired length.

Nose and Mouth:

With black yarn and tapestry needle, sew on nose and mouth.

Fasten off on the back of the holder, weave in ends.

Eyes:

Attach safety eyes to the middle of your holder.

Tip: Lay glasses down first to pick the placement of the eyes.
