You’ll need:

For pullover: 550 (650) 650 (700)g of cinnamon color yarn (70% wool, 30% alpaca; 90m/50g);

For cowl: 300g of the same yarn, as for pullover;

Knitting needles 5;

Circular knitting needles 5 (100 cm long);

6 buttons (20 mm diameter).

 

Size: S (M) L (XL).

Cowl: circumference: 107 cm;

Width: 32 cm.

 

Used Patterns

Selvage sts: make the 1st and last st of every row as knit sts.

Structured pattern: 1st row (WS): 1 selvage st, * 2 knit sts, slip 1 st with yarn over as purl*; repeat from * to *, 2 knit sts, 1 selvage st;

2nd row (RS): 1 selvage st, * 2 knit sts, make slip st with yarn over together with cross knit st*; repeat from * to *, 2 knit sts, 1 selvage st.

Repeat 1st-2nd rows.

 

Stitches control: 18 sts x 33 rows = 10 x 10 cm.

Back and Front

Cast on 109 (109) 115 (115) sts with double yarn in criss-cross way and start with 1 WS row work with structured pattern. For chamfers, increase, 1 x 1 st in every 10th row, then, 9 (12) 12 (6) x 1 st in every 8th (6th) 6th (6th) row and 0 (0) 0 (9) x 1 st in every 4th row = 129 (135) 141 (147) sts. In 25 cm = 82 rows from the set-up row, divide your work to 68 (71) 74 (77) sts of left side, make the last st from inwards, 1 selvage st, the rest 61 (64) 67 (70) sts for back. In 51 (55) 59 (63) cm = 168 (182) 194 (208) rows from work division, leave sts for back. In 51 (55) 59 (63) cm = 168 (182) 194 (208) rows from work division, leave 68 (71) 74 (77) sts of front. Cast on the previously left 61 (64) 67 (70) sts of back and starting from 1 WS row cast on 3 sts of upper placket of fastener = 64 (67) 70 (73) sts and work with structured pattern. In 51 (55) 59 (63) cm = 168 (182) 194 (208) rows from division of work, leave sts. Then, starting from 1 WS row, continue work on 68 (71) 74 (77) sts of front and 64 (67) 70 (73) sts of upper placket = 129 (135) 141 (147) sts. Decrease 1 x 1 st in the 2nd row from both sides for chamfers, then, 0 (0) 0 (9) x 1 st in every 4th row and 9 (12) 12 (6) x 1 st in every 8th (6th) 6th (6th) row. In 25 cm = 83 rows from connection, bind off the rest 109 (109) 115 (115) sts as purls.

 

Assembly

Sew lower edge of placket. Make sleeve seams. Sew buttons.

 

Cowl

Cast on 193 sts with double yarn in criss-cross way and work with structures pattern on circular knitting needles, start with 1 WS row. In 32 cm = 105 rows from the set-up row, bind off sts, make all slip sts together with yarn overs. Make with matrass stitch.

Love this pattern but need to substitute the yarn as I am cannot wear or knit with wool.  What weight is this yarn?

Would it be possible to include the yarn weights in future patterns?
