​Knit Grey Cardigan with Cables

You’ll need:

400g of grey-green yarn (45% wool, 55% acryl; 250m/100g);

Knitting needles 3;

3 buttons.

Used Patterns

Pearl pattern: 1^st row: knit st, purl;

2^nd row: purls above knit sts, knit sts above purls.

Stockinette sticth: in RS row – knit sts, in WS row – purls.

Cable pattern: due to the scheme, on which both RS and WS rows are stated.

Back

Make 97 chain sts + 2 selvage sts, make the 1^st row with knit sts. Then, make 3 cm of pearl pattern. Continue work with stockinette stitch. Decrease 1 st in every 9^th row from both side. In 31 cm from the set-up row, finish your work with 10 cm of pearl pattern. For arm-holes, decrease 1 x 4 sts, 2 x 1 st from both sides. In 58 cm from the set-up row, finish your work.

Front

Make 46 chain sts + 2 selvage sts and make 31 cm in the same way, as for back. Then, divide all sts into 3 parts, start make cable due to the scheme on the central part, continue work with stockinette stitch from both sides of cables. In 41 cm from the set-up row, decrease 1 x 4 sts, 2 x 1 st for arm-holes. In 50 cm from the set-up row, decrease 1 x 4 sts, 1 x 2 sts, 8 x 1 st in every 2^nd row for neck-hole. In 58 cm from the set-up row, finish your work. Make another half of front in symmetry.

Sleeves

Make 73 sts + 2 selvage sts, make the 1^st row with knit sts, then, make 3 cm of pearl pattern, continue work with stockinette stitch. Decrease 7 x 1 st in every 3^rd row from each side. In 15 cmallthedecreasesshouldbefinished. Divide your work into 3 parts and continue work on the central part with cables pattern, continue work with srockinette stitch from both sides of pattern. In 34 cm from the set-up row, form arm-holes and sleeve caps, decrease 1 x 4 sts, 1 x 2 sts in every 2^nd row from both sides, then, decrease 6 x 1 st in every 3^rd row, then, decrease 8 x 1 st in every row. Bind off the rest sts.



Assembly

Work with pearl pattern for placket: for front make 2 plackets of 3 cm wide and 50 cm long, for neck-hole – 1 placket of 3,5 cm wide and 48-50 cm long, make button-loop on one end. Makeallseams. Sew up the sleeves. Sew plackets and buttons.
