Diagonal Chevron Crochet Pattern
1st-2nd rnds: Begin with a round of fsc - foundation single crochets (fsc) (any multiple of 3 + 2). In my tutorial example, I started with a round of 50 fsc. At end of the 1st rnd, join to beg st with a sl st. For the 2nd rnd, work 1 sc in each st around, but do not join at the end;
3rd rnd: work 1 sc in each of first 2 sts. Mark start of round with a stitch marker. Working back over the 2 sc just made, insert hook back into the first st one round below. Yarn over and pull up a long loop, stretching it to the height required for the current round. [2 loops on hook]. Working over the next st, insert hook into next st 2 rounds below (in this case ROUND 1). Yarn over and pull up another long loop, stretching it to the height required for the current round. [3 loops on hook]. Yarn over and pull through all 3 loops. First long sc2tog made. Skip unworked st behind long sc2tog just made, 1 sc in each of next 2 sts. Work another long sc2tog (as in steps 3 and 4). Continue to repeat pattern all the way around until 2 sts rem. Work 1 sc into each of last 2 sts. Work one more long sc2tog, working second leg into same st as very first sc of round;
4th rnd: skip st behind long sc2tog just made. Work 1 sc in each of next 2 sts. Use a stitch marker to mark the first st of the round. Repeat [long sc2tog, 2 sc] all the way around, ending the round as per the 3rd rnd.
Repeat the 4th rnd.
