Materials:
Kertzer Butterfly Super 10 mercerized cotton yarn in 3940 Purple Iris, 3[3,4,4,5] skeins. (250 yds/125 g, 100% mercerized cotton) US #10.5 (6.5 mm) circular needles 36 inch or longer, or sam size dpns 4 stitch markers, scrap yarn, and tapestry needle
Gauge 14 St./18 rows = 4” in. (10 cm) Stockinette stitch
Key beg - beginning; BO - bind off; CO - cast on; K - knit; K2tog - knit 2 together; K2togTBL - K2tog through back loops; M1 - Make 1 stitch; P - purl; pm - place marker; R or rnd - round; slm - slip marker; st - stitch; YO - yarn over.
Yoke: CO 60[60,60,64,68] sts, pm, and join in rnd. K 3 rnds. On next rnd, K10[10,10,10,12], pm, K20[20,20,22,22], pm, K10[10,10,10,12], pm, K20[20,20,22,22]. On next rnd, begin the following pattern and repeat a total of 15[18,25,30,34] times: [R1: K around, making a YO one st before and one st after each marker (8 increases total). R2: K even] On next rnd, begin the following pattern and repeat a total of 5[4,0,0,0] times: [R1: K from beg of rnd to 1st marker, slip marker, K1, YO, K to one before 2nd marker, YO, K1, slip marker, K to 3rd marker, slip marker, K1, YO, K to one before end of round, YO, K1. R2: K around in St st.]
Body: On next rnd, place the first 40 [46,60,70,80] sts on scrap yarn, removing 1st marker. Join yarn from beg of rnd to next st and K across next 60 [64,70,80,90] sts. Slip 2nd marker, place next 40[46,60,70,80] sts on scrap yarn and remove 3rd marker. Join yarn to next st and K across remaining 60 [64,70,80,90] sts to end of rnd. K until body measures 6”[6”,7”,7.5”,8”] from scrap yarn. On next rnd, begin the following pattern and repeat a total of 3[3,3,3,3] times: [R1: K2tog, K to 2 sts before 1st marker, K2togTBL, slm, K2tog, K to 2 sts before end of round, K2togTBL. R2-R6: K even.] K 5 rnds. On next rnd, begin the following pattern and repeat a total of 2[2,3,3,4] times: [R1-R5: K even. R6: K1, M1, K to one st before 1st marker, M1, K1, slm, K1, M1, K to one st before end of rnd, M1, K1.] K even until body measures 17” or desired length from scrap yarn
Purple Sweater Sleeves (make 2) : Place one set of the 40 [46,60,70,80] held stitches on your needle. Pick up 4 sts along the side of the body, pm in center of the 4 picked up sts (2 on either side of marker),and join in rnd. K 6 rnds, then on next rnd begin the following pattern: [R1: K2tog, K to 2 before end of round, K2togTBL. R2-9[8,5,5,4]: K around] Repeat sleeve decrease pattern a total of 8[9,14,16,19] times. K 6[6,9,2,6] rnds even. BO loosely.
Finishing: Weave in any loose ends and block if necessary.
