You’ll need:
Yarn: Size 3 DK Weight Yarn – 100 yds main color and 20 yds contrasting color. Berroco Vintage DK in 2136 (blue), 2100 (white) and 2116 (taupe)
Crochet hook 5 mm;
Darning needle;
Scissors.
Size: 0-3 months – 6.5” wide x 5.45” high;
3-6 months – 7.25” wide x 6.25” high.
Notes
This pattern uses fpdc and bpdc – here are the steps:
FPDC: Yo, insert hook from front to back to front again around post of indicated st, yo, pull up a loop, [yo, pull through 2 loops on hook] twice.
BPDC: Yo, insert hook from back to front to back again around post of indicated st, yo, pull up a loop, [yo, pull through 2 loops on hook] twice.
Instructions
Size 0-3 months
With main color, ch 3.
Round 1: 9 dc in 3rd ch from hook (skipped chs count as dc), join with sl st in top of first st. (10 dc)
Round 2: Ch 2 (does not count as a st here and throughout), 2 dc in each st around, join with sl st in top of first dc. (20 dc)
Round 3: Ch 2, *2 dc in next st, dc in next 1 st; repeat from * around, join with sl st in top of first dc. (30 dc)
Round 4: Ch 2, *2 dc in next st, dc in next 2 sts; repeat from * around, join with sl st in top of first dc. (40 dc)
Round 5: Ch 2, *2 dc in next st, dc in next 3 sts; repeat from * around, join with sl st in top of first dc. (50 dc)
Rounds 6-8: Ch 2, dc in each st around, join with sl st in top of first dc.
Round 9: Change yarn to contrasting color, ch 1, sc in each st around, join with sl st in top of first sc.
Round 10: Change to main color, ch 2, dc in each st around, join with sl st in top of first dc.
Round 11: Change yarn to contrasting color, ch 1, sc in each st around, join with sl st in top of first sc.
Round 12: Change to main color, ch 2, dc in each st around, join with sl st in top of first dc.
Round 13: Ch 2, *fpdc around next st, bpdc around next st; repeat from * around, join with sl st in top of first st.
Round 14: Ch 1, sc in each st around, join with sl st in top of first sc.
Fasten off, and weave ends.
Size 3-6 months
With main color, ch 3.

Round 6: Ch 2, *2 dc in next st, dc in next 4 sts; repeat from * around, join with sl st in top of first dc. (60 dc)
Rounds 7-9: Ch 2, dc in each st around, join with sl st in top of first dc. (60 dc)
Round 10: Change yarn to contrasting color, ch 1, sc in each st around, join with sl st in top of first sc.
Round 11: Change to main color, h 2, dc in each st around, join with sl st in top of first dc.
Round 12: Change yarn to contrasting color, ch 1, sc in each st around, join with sl st in top of first sc.
Round 13: Change to main color, ch 2, dc in each st around, join with sl st in top of first dc.
Round 14: Ch 2, *fpdc around next st, bpdc around next st; repeat from * around, join with sl st in top of first dc.
Round 15: Ch 1, sc in each st around, join with sl st in top of first sc.
Cut yarn, fasten off, weave ends.
