The quantity of sts is multiple 6 + 2 selvage sts.

1^st row: * 1 purl, 4 knit sts, 1 purl*; repeat from * to *;

2^nd and all the even rows: due to the pattern;

3^rd row: as the 1^st row;

5^th row: * 1 purl, cross 4 sts to the right (leave 2 sts on the auxiliary needle behind work, 2 knit sts, 2 knit sts from the auxiliary needle), 1 purl*; repeat from * to *;

7^th row: as the 1^st row;

9^th and 11^th rows: * 2 knit sts, 2 purls, 2 knit sts*; repeat from * to *;

13^th row: 2 knit sts, 2 purls, * cross 4 sts to the right, 2 purls*; repeat from * to *, 2 knit sts;

15^th row: as the 9^th and 11^th rows.

Repeat 1^st-16^th rows.
