1^st and 5^th rows: * 1 purl, knit2tog to the right, 1 yarn over, 1 purl, cross 4 sts to the left (leave 2 sts on the auxiliary needle in front of work, 2 knit sts, 2 knit sts from the auxiliary needle), 1 purl, knit2tog to the right, 1 yarn over, 1 purl, 4 knit sts*; repeat from * to *;

2^nd and all the even rows: due to the pattern, yarn overs – as purls;
