2^nd and all even rows: due to the pattern, yarn overs – as purls;

3^rd row: * 3 knit sts, 1 yarn over, 1 broaching, 3 knit sts*; repeat from * to *;

5^th row: * 4 knit sts, 1 yarn over, 1 broaching, 2 knit sts*; repeat from * to *;

7^th row: * 5 knit sts, 1 yarn over, 1 broaching, 1 knit st*; repeat from * to *;

9^th row: * cross 6 sts to the right (leave 3 sts on the auxiliary needle behind work, 3 knit sts, 3 knit sts from the auxiliary needle), 1 yarn over, 1 broaching*; repeat from * to *.
