Booties for Your Small Friend
You’ll need:
30g of wool yarn (250m/100g);
10g of the same yarn, but black color (for sole);
Double pointed knitting needles 2,5.
Size of the sole: 4 x 5 cm.
Stitches control: 1 x 1 rib in 1 thread yarn: 24 sts x 32 rows = 10 x 10 cm;
in 2 threads yarn: 18 sts x 30 rows = 10 x 10 cm.
Measurements
Sock height: 1,5 cm (4 rows);
Height of the bootie: 4 cm (12 rows);
Paw circumference along the upper edge of bootie: `12 cm (36 sts);
Distance between toe to boot top: 2 cm (6 rows).
Instructions
Sole
Cast on 7 sts with 2 threads yarn.
1st and 2nd rows: stockinette stitch;
3rd row: 1 selvedge st, knit2tog,3 knit sts, knit2tog, 1 selvedge st. Totally, 9 sts;
4th-15th rows: knit;
16th row: 1 selvedge st, knit2tog, 3 knit sts, knit2tog, 1 selvedge sts. Totally, 7 sts.
17th row: bind off all the sts.
Boot Top
Cast on the sts in 1 thread yarn on 4 knitting needles. 1s needle (heel): 6 sts, 2nd needle (side) – 8 sts, 3rd needle (toe) – 6 sts, 4th needle (side) – 8 sts.
1st row: stockinette stitch;
2nd row: increase 3 sts for heel and toe, and 4 sts for each side;
3rd-6th rows: 1 x 1 rib. This is the height of sock.
Turn to the front part of booties. Knit 6 rows on the 3rd knitting needles – the distance between toe to boot top. Knit the last st of every row, catching the 1st st from the knitting needle of side part.
Now, make boot top on 4 knitting needles – 9 sts on each needle. You can knit with 1 x 1 rib or stockinette stitch.
