You’ll need:

3 balls of Bernat® Handicrafter® Cotton (Ombres: 1.5 oz/42.5 g; 68 yds/62 m) Mod Ombre (02223);

Knitting needles 4 mm and 6.5 mm.

Size: about 43 cm long, excluding handles.

Stitches control: 21 sts and 27 rows = 4" [10 cm] with smaller needles in stocking st.

Instructions

Body

With smaller needles, cast on 24 sts.

Knit 5 rows, noting 1st row is WS.

1st row: (RS). *(K1. P1. K1) in next st. Rep from * to end of row. 72 sts.

Change to larger needles and proceed as follows:

1st row: (WS). Purl.

2nd row: K1. *K1. K2tog. yo. K1. yo. ssk. K1. Rep from * to last st. K1.

3rd row: K1. *P2togtbl. yo. P3. yo. P2tog. Rep from * to last st. K1.

4th row: K1. *K1. yo. ssk. K1. K2tog. yo. K1. Rep from * to last st. K1.

5th row: K1. *P2. yo. P3tog. yo. P2. Rep from * to last st. K1. Rep 2nd to 5th rows for pat until work from beginning measures 24" [61 cm], ending with a WS row.

Change to smaller needles and proceed as follows:

Next row: (RS). (K3tog) 24 times. 24 sts.

Knit 5 rows. Cast off.

Handles

With RS of work facing and smaller needles, pick up and knit 30 sts along side of bag. Cast on 45 sts (handle). 75 sts in total. Knit 4 rows. Cast off knitwise (WS). Rep for other side. Sew end of each handle to Bag.
