The quantity of sts is multipled 12 sts + 2 sts for the symmetry + 2 selvedge sts. Slip the 1st selvedge st without knitting, make the last selvedge st as purl.

1st row: knit;

2nd, 4th, 6th, 8th rows: purl;

3rd row: 1 knit st, * transfer 2 sts to the auxilary needle behind work, 2 knit sts, make 2 sts from the auxilary needle as knit sts, 4 knit sts, transfer 2 sts to the auxilary needle in front of work, 2 knit sts, make 2 sts from the auxilary needle as knit sts*, 1 knit st;

5th row: knit;

7th row: 1 knit st, * transfer 2 sts to the auxilary needle in front of work, 2 knit sts, make 2 sts from the auxilary needle as knit sts, 1 knit st, * transfer 2 sts to the auxilary needle behind work, 2 knit sts, make 2 sts from the auxilary needle as knit sts*, 1 knit st.

Repeat 1st-8th rows.
