Crochet Simple Bow

MATERIALS:

Bamboo Takumi Hook (5 mm)

Clover Patchwork Scissors

Clover Yarn Needle

#3 light worsted yarn

Note: Mohair yarn is typically held together with another skein of yarn. Though most categorize as worsted, that is accounting for the “halo” of fuzz around the yarn fiber and it is actually very thin.

alligator hair clip of any size

hot glue gun

This pattern is written in US terminology.

ABBREVIATIONS:

PART 1 OF PATTERN:

Use the 5 mm Bamboo Takumi Hook and color yarn of your choice.

This diagram indicates the two parts of the bow that we will make separately.

Row 1: Leave a short tail and make a slipknot and ch 32. Working into the third ch from the hook, hdc into the next 30 ch. Crochet over the short tail we left at the beginning or weave it in at the very end. [30]

Row 2: ch 2, turn and hdc down the row. [30]

Row 3: ch 2, turn and hdc down the row. [30]

Fasten off and cut 18 in. [~46 cm] of a yarn tail.

Hold the two short edges together and whipstitch the edges closed. (Alternatively, you can slst through the both edges).

Leave the remaining yarn tail for assembly.

PART 2 OF PATTERN:

Use the 5 mm Bamboo Takumi Hook and color yarn of your choice.

*Note: Skipping the first st of each row will act as a “decrease”, causing the short edges of the pattern to taper in (like a trapezoid).

Row 1: Leave a short tail and make a slipknot and ch 32. Working into the third ch from the hook, hdc into the next 29 ch. [29]

Row 2: ch 2, turn. Skip the first st and work into the next st and hdc down the row. [28]

Row 3: ch 2, turn. Skip the first st again and hdc down the row. [27]

Fasten off and leave a short tail. Weave it in.

ASSEMBLY:

Step 1: Position part 2 under part 1 as the image indicates.

Step 2: Use the remaining yarn tail from part 1 and tightly wrap around part 2 to create the “cinched” center of the bow.

Step 3: Sew or glue the bow onto an alligator clip onto the back of the bow.

Step 4: Weave the remaining yarn tail through the center backside and tie a double knot. Weave in the excess tail.
