Steps:
1. Magic Ring or Alternative Start
Magic Ring: Create a magic ring and make 5 single crochets into it.
Alternative: Chain 2, and then make 5 single crochets into the second chain from the hook.
2. Closing the Ring
After completing the 5 single crochets, join with a slip stitch into the first single crochet you made.
You should have a small loop with 5 stitches.
3. Starting the Petals
Chain 2.
4. Creating a Puff Stitch
Yarn over, insert the hook into the same stitch, yarn over and pull through, pulling up to the height of the chain 2.
Repeat the step above 4 more times (5 total). You should have 6 loops on your hook.
Yarn over and pull through all 6 loops on your hook.
Chain 2 to close the puff stitch.
Securing the Petal
Make a slip stitch in the same stitch as where the puff stitch was created.
This completes one petal.
6. Repeat Around
Chain 2.
Yarn over and insert into the next stitch, yarn over and pull through, pulling up to the height of the chain 2, repeat 4 more times.
Yarn over, pull through all 6 loops.
Chain 2.
Slip stitch into the same stitch.

Finishing the Petals
After the last puff stitch, chain 2.
Slip stitch into the initial chain stitch (not the original starting stitch).
8. Cut and Secure
Cut your yarn, yarn over, and pull through the loop to secure.
Flip the petals if they aren’t laying flat.
Optional Center:
1. Creating the Center
With a contrasting color, chain 3.
In the 3rd chain from the hook, yarn over, pull through to the height of the chain 3. Repeat this 3 more times (4 total). You should have 5 loops on your hook.
Yarn over and pull through all loops.
Cut the yarn and pull through to secure.
Attaching the Center
Insert your hook from the back through any stitch in the flower.
Pull the center yarn through.
Secure it by tying the ends at the back of the flower.
Trim any excess yarn.
