Petals (Make 5)
R1: Ch 11. Beginning in the second chain from the hook, 9 sc. 3 sc in the last stitch. Working in the back of the chain, 9 sc, 3 sc in the last stitch. (24)
R2-3 (2 rounds): 24 sc
R4: (2 sc, dec) x 6 (18)
R5: 18 sc
R6: (1 sc, dec) x 6 (12)
Stuff the petal lightly.
R7: (2 sc, dec) x 3 (9)
You may need to add a couple sc to be able to fold the petal in half evenly (I have to add 1 sc). Fold the petal in half and 4 sc across to close.
To get the "Alberta Rose" look to the petals, take a spare piece of yarn and thread it through the top half of the petal (see picture). Go through the petal a few times, pulling the yarn tightly each time. This will create two "segments" at the top of each petal.
Center:
R1: 10 sc in a magic ring
R2: 10 inc (20)
R3: 20 sc
In the next round, you are going to sc through BOTH the petals and the center piece.
R5: 4 sc with each petal around, for a total of 5 times (20)
Tie the ends of all the petals together in the centre on the wrong side of the flower to secure them.
R6: 10 dec (10)
Stuff the center lightly.
R7: 5 dec (5)
FO and sew hole shut. Weave in your end.
