Whether you are a seasoned crocheter or just starting out, crafting your very own soup bowl cozy can bring a sense of accomplishment and joy to your kitchen adventures.

I created this crochet bowl cozy with an I hook and medium worsted yarn. This is a great way to place your bowls in the microwave. My bowl was 17 inches around. I recommend going up a hook size for a larger bowl and down a hook size for a smaller bowl. You will want a snug fit on your bowl. This is a creative way not to get burned by a hot bowl! I loved how this free crochet pattern for bowl cozies.

I googled that yarn is microwave-safe!

Abbreviations:

ch=chain

sl st=slip stitch

dc=double crochet

I used a cereal bowl as a hook for a 17–18-inch bowl, up or down on the hook if it was smaller or bigger.

I hook

Rnd 1: chain 3, work dc in the first chain, work 8 more dc, for a total of 10(the chain 3 counts as dc), sl st

Rnd 2: ch 3, dc in the same stitch, 2 dc in each stitch around, sl st

Rnd 3: ch 3, *work 2 dc in the next stitch, dc in the next *Repeat around, sl st

Rnd 4: ch 3, *dc in the next stitch, work 2 dc in the next stitch, *Repeat around, sl st

Rnds 5–7: ch 3, *dc in each stitch around, sl st

Rnd 8: sl st in a new stripe, dc in each stitch around, sl st

Rnds 9–10: or desired length, all depends on how big your bowl is, ch 3, *dc in each stitch around, sl st

Fasten off. Weave in your ends. I hope you enjoyed this free crochet pattern for bowl cozies.
