Worsted weight yarn
Red Worsted weight yarn
Green Worsted weight yarn
Yellow Worsted weight yarn
Brown Worsted weight yarn
Peach Worsted weight yarn
Gray Crochet hook, size H
Finishing Materials:
Tapestry needle
Magnets (optional)

Instructions

Apple: (Using Red)
Rnd 1) Please note, do not join rounds. Place a marker at the beginning of each new round; Ch 2; 6 sc in 2nd chain from hook: 6 sc.

Rnd 2) * 2 Sc in next sc; repeat from * around: 12 sc.

Rnd 3) * Sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc; repeat from * around: 18 sc.

Rnd 4) Sc in next sc, 3 hdc in next sc, slip st in next 2 sc, 3 hdc in next sc, sc in next 5 sc, 2 sc in next sc, slip st in next sc, 2 sc in next sc, sc in last 5 sc, slip st in next 2 sts. Fasten off, secure ends.

Leaves: (Using Green)
Row 1) Join yarn to center top of Apple; (Ch 3, sc in next 2nd chain from hook, hdc in next chain, slip st in top of apple) twice. Fasten off, secure ends.

Pencil:
Row 1) Starting with Eraser and using Peach; Ch 6, dc in 5th ch from hook and in last chain: 3 dc. Fasten off. Mark this as the right side.

Row 2) Right side facing, join Yellow to 1st dc on Row 1 of Pencil Eraser; Ch 10, sc in 2nd chain from hook and in next 8 chains, slip st in next dc on Eraser; ch 1, turn work, (working in front loops only), sc in next 8 sc, working up the pencil, sc in both loops of last sc, ch 1, turn work, working back down the pencil, sc in both loops of first sc, (working in back loops only), sc in next 8 sc, slip st in last dc on Eraser. Fasten off, secure ends.

Row 3) Right side facing, join Lt. Brown to top of Pencil (opposite Eraser), to first sc on end; Ch 2, dc in joining (counts as first decrease), Ldc in 2nd sc from end on next row, working a decrease stitch, yo, insert hook in next row, pull up a loop, yo, draw through 2 loops on hook, yo, insert hook in 2nd st from end on same row, pull up a long loop, yo, draw through 2 loops on hook, yo, draw through last 3 loops on hook to complete the stitch. Fasten off. Long Dc or Ldc: Yo, insert hook in next st, draw up a long loop, (yo, draw through 2 loops on hook) twice to complete the stitch.

Row 4) Right side facing, join Gray to first decrease stitch on Row 3; Ch 2, dc decrease over next 2 stitches. Fasten off, secure all ends. Dc decrease: (Yo, insert hook in next stitch, pull up a loop, yo, draw through 2 loops on hook) twice, yo, draw through last 3 loops on hook to complete the stitch.

For Fridgies:
Stop here on both the Apple and Pencil. Secure all ends. Attach magnets to back.

For Bookmark:

Join Green to bottom center of Eraser and chain 15. Fasten off, leaving a 6″ tail. Thread tapestry needle with tail and stitch to center bottom of Apple. Weave in ends.
