Ch 42.
Row 1: Dc in 4th ch from hook and in the next 4 sts, dc, ch1, dc in next st, dc in next 6sts, dc, ch1, dc in next st, dc in next 12 sts, dc, ch1,dc in next st, dc in next 6sts, dc, ch1, dc in next st, dc in last 6 sts, ch 3.
Rows 2: Dc in each st across to the (dc, ch1, dc). In the ch 1 sp, work (dc, ch1, dc). *Then dc across to next (dc, ch1, dc)group, work (dc, ch1, dc) in the ch1 sp. Rep from * across. Ch 3.
Row 3-8: Rep Row 2.
Row 9: Ch 3, dc in each st to ch 1 sp from previous row, work a dc in that sp (this pulls it together and makes the armhole) then dc in each st across to next ch 1 sp, work a dc in that sp (this pulls it together and makes the 2nd armhole) dc across to the end. Sl st to ch 3. Armholes made and now you will be working in rounds.
Rounds 10- 18: Ch 3, dc in each dc around. Sl st tog.
If you want the edging like I did, you will want to fasten off.
Round 19: edging is the Reverse sc or also known as the crab stitch
I also to the crab stitch around the neckline. It's strictly optional. You could just as well do single crochet and it would look fine.
Arms: I attached the yarn in the armhole and evenly spaced 28 dc and then I reverse sc/crab stitch around. I repeated this on both armholes.
I made this shorter because that's how I wanted it. You can keep making it as long as you want it.
