Crochet Mini Bean Dishcloth

Crochet Mini Bean Dishcloths are a delightful addition to any kitchen! Their adorable mini size makes them perfect for tackling small spills or as a charming decoration for your home. Crafted with intricate crochet stitches, these dishcloths provide a textured surface that is great for scrubbing dishes or wiping countertops clean. The mini bean stitch adds a touch of elegance to their design, making them not only functional but also a stylish accessory for your kitchen. Whether you're a seasoned crocheter looking for a quick project or a beginner eager to try something new, these mini bean dishcloths are sure to bring joy to your daily routines. So grab your yarn and crochet hook, and let's create some magic in the kitchen!

Materials:

Worsted Weight Cotton Yarn- I used Lily Sugar N Cream. You can get a small washcloth out of the regular 2 oz sized ombré skeins (95 yards) for a medium sized washcloth you may want to go with the slightly larger 2.5 oz solid skeins. For large, I would get one of the 4 oz skeins.

Size H Crochet hook

Skills Needed:

Mini Bean (or Elizabeth Stitch): Each stitch consists of 2 parts, the cluster or bean part and a chain.

To do this stitch you insert your hook into the stitch and pull up a loop, leaving 2 loops on your hook. You then yarn over, insert your hook into the same stitch and pull up a loop, leaving 4 loops on your hook. You then pull through all 4 loops on your hook, completing the “bean” part of the stitch. Next you chain one.

You then skip one stitch and repeat into the following stitch and in every other stitch across.

Sizing:

Small – App 9 x 9

Medium- App 10.5 x 10.5

Large- App 12 x 12

You can easily modify these sizes. To change the width add or subtract chains from your beginning chain, so long as you start with a multiple of 2 plus one (any odd number). For me, every four chains (which is 2 mini bean stitches) equals 1.5 inches on the finished project. To change the height, simply do as many rows as needed to achieve your desired height.

Do not measure your chain to check your width. The width will stretch once you do the mini beans.

Directions:

Chain your desired amount of chains. I did the following number of chains and rows for each size:

Small: 33 (16 mini beans per row/ 27 rows)

Medium: 37 (18 mini beans per row/ 31 rows)

Large: 41 (20 mini beans per row/ 36 rows)

Row 1: Complete a mini bean stitch (cluster or bean plus chain one) in the 3rd stitch from the hook and in every other stitch across, chain 1 and turn (16/18/20 mini beans plus turning chain)

Row 2: Mini bean stitch in 3rd stitch from hook (bean or cluster part of last mini bean from previous row) and in every other stitch across)

Repeat Row 2 until the dishcloth reaches your desired height, see above for the number of rows I did for each size.
