Crochet Flower for Spring Dishcloth

H hook
Worsted Cotton , 3 colors.

With out joining; (I mark the beginning of the round with contrasting yarn.)

Center of flower;

Rnd 1; ch 2, 6 sc in 2nd ch from hook. (6 sc)

Rnd 2; 2 sc in each st around. (12 sc)

Rnd 3; *1 sc in next st, 2 sc in next st, repeat from * around. (18 sc)

In front loops;

Rnd 4; *sl st in next st, ch 1, sl st in same st, repeat from * around, join and end off.

I hide my end as I work, you may do as you wish.

With out joining rnds work the flower as follows;

Join flower color of your choice in any free back loop of previous rnd.

Rnd 1; 1 sc in same st as join , *sc in next 2 st, 2 sc in next st. Repeat from * around.(24 sc)

Rnd 2; *sc in next 3 st, 2 sc in next st. Repeat from * around.(30 sc)

Rnd 3; *sc in next 4 st, 2 sc in next st. Repeat from * around.(36 sc)

Rnd 4; *sc in next 5 st, 2 sc in next st. Repeat from * around.(42 sc)

Rnd 5; *sc in next 6 st, 2 sc in next st. Repeat from * around.(48 sc)

Petals of Flower;

Working in the front loops this rnd...

Rnd 1; *sc, (hdbl, dbl, hdbl), in next st. Repeat from * around. Join in first sc.

Join another color in back loop of petal round;

With out joining........

Rnd 1; *sc in 7 st , 2 st in next st around.

Rnd 2; *sc in 8 st, 2 sc in next st around.

Rnd 3; *sc in 9 st, 2 sc in next st around.

Rnd 4; *sc in 10 st, 2 sc in next st around.

Rnd 5; * sc in 11 st, 2 sc in next around. (about 6&1/2"across now)

If you want a bigger cloth keep increasing in this manner until the size you want is reached.

You will have a st count divisable by 6.

This "leaves" round adds another inch..........

* sc, hdc, 2 dc in next 2 sc, hdc, sc * around. Join in first sc, end.
