Throw is 48” x 60”.
GAUGE: First 2 rounds of motif = 3½” in diameter. Motif = 8” across one side. CHECK YOUR GAUGE. Use any size hook to obtain the gauge.
THROW

First Motif (top left-hand corner motif)

With A, ch 4, slip st in first ch to form ring.

Round 1: ch 3 (counts as dc here and throughout) 2 dc in ring, ch 3 [3 dc, ch 3] twice in ring; join with a slip st in beginning ch-3 – 3 ch-3 spaces.

Round 2: Slip st to next 2 dc, slip st in next ch-3 space, ch 3 (counts as dc here and throughout), (2 dc, ch 3, 3 dc) in same ch-3 space, ch 2, *(3 dc, ch 3, 3 dc) in next ch-3 space, ch 2; repeat from * once; join with a slip st in top of beginning ch-3 – 3 ch-3 corner spaces; 3 ch-2 spaces.
Note: When instructed to “Slip st to next ch-3 space,” work in the same manner as in Round 2, slip stitching in each of the next 2 dc and in the ch-3 space itself.

Round 3: Slip st to next ch-3 space, ch 3, (2 dc, ch 3, 3 dc) in same ch-3 space, ch 2, 3 dc in next ch-2 space, ch 2, *(3 dc, ch 3, 3 dc) in next ch-3 space, ch 2, 3 dc in next ch-2 space, ch 2; repeat from * once; join with a slip st in top of beginning ch-3 – 3 ch-3 corner spaces; 6 ch-2 spaces.

Round 4: Slip st to next ch-3 space, ch 3, (2 dc, ch 3, 3 dc) in same ch-3 space, [ch 2, 3 dc] in each of next 2 ch-2 spaces, ch 2, *(3 dc, ch 3, 3 dc) in next ch-3 space, [ch 2, 3 dc] in each of next 2 ch-2 spaces, ch 2; repeat from * once; join with a slip st in top of beginning ch-3 – 3 ch-3 corner spaces; 9 ch-2 spaces.

Round 5: Slip st in next dc, ch 1, (sc, ch 2, sc) in same dc, *ch 1, (sc, ch 4, sc, ch 6, sc, ch 4, sc) in next corner ch-3 space, [ch 1, skip next dc, (sc, ch 2, sc) in next dc, ch 1, skip next dc, (sc, ch 2, sc) in next ch-2 space] 3 times, ch 1, skip next dc**, (sc, ch 2, sc) in next dc; repeat from * around, ending last repeat at **; join with a slip st in first sc – 3 ch-6 spaces; 6 ch-4 spaces; 21 ch-2 spaces.
Second and Successive Triangle Motifs:
Make and join 65 more motifs same as First Triangle Motif, joining each to previous motif while completing last round as follows.

Make and join motifs in numerical order following Assembly Diagram for color section and placement. Join motifs at ch-6, ch-4 and ch-2 spaces but not at ch-1 spaces.

Rounds 1-4: Work same as First Motif.

On Strip 1 (motifs 2 -11), join from top to bottom on 1 side only from corner to corner as follows while completing Round 5: continuing in pattern st for Round 5, join ch-6 spaces as follows: ch 3, drop loop, draw loop under to over through corresponding ch-6 space on adjacent motif, ch 3. Join ch-4 spaces as follows: ch 2, drop loop, draw loop under to over through corresponding ch-4 space on adjacent motif, ch 2. Join ch-2 spaces as follows: ch 1, drop loop, draw loop under to over through corresponding ch-2 space on adjacent motif, ch 1.On Strips 2, 4, and 6, join top motif to corner of top motif on previous strip by working: ch 3, drop loop, draw loop under to over through corresponding ch-6 space on adjacent motif. Join next motif on 2 sides, joining corners to same motif on the left. Join next motif on 1 side and next motif on 2 sides working as follows where 3 ch-6 corners meet: ch 3, drop loop, draw loop under to over through opposite ch-3 space, ch 2, drop loop, draw loop under to over through opposite corner ch-3 space of next motif to the left, ch 3 and continue joining next side to the same triangle. Continue working this way joining as above wherever 3 motifs meet. Join other strips on 1 or 2 sides as necessary joining the same way where 6 triangles meet.
