Required Supplies:

  • RED HEART® Super Saver®: 2 skeins 3933 Dove
  • Susan Bates® Crochet Hook:5.5mm [I-9 US]
  • Yarn needle
GAUGE: 14 dc = 4” (10 cm) in pattern; 8 rows = 4” (10 cm). CHECK YOUR GAUGE. Use any size hook to obtain the gauge.
Pouch measures 22” long x 15” wide (56 x 38 cm), with flap open
POUCH
Ch 70.
Row 1 (right side): Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across, turn—69 sts.
Row 2: Ch 2 (counts as first dc here and throughout), dc in each st, turn.
Row 3: Ch 3 (counts as first dc, ch 1 here and throughout), skip next st, dc in next st, *ch 1, skip next st, dc in next st; repeat from * across, turn—35 dc and 34 ch-1 spaces.
Row 4: Ch 2, dc in first ch-space, *ch 1, skip next st, dc in next ch-space; repeat from * to beginning ch-2, dc in top of beginning ch-2, turn—36 dc and 33 ch-1 spaces.
Row 5: Ch 2, dc in each st and ch-1 space across, turn—69 dc.
Rows 6–10: Ch 2, dc in each st, turn.
Rows 11–13: Repeat Rows 3–5—69 dc.
Rows 14–18: Repeat Row 6.
Rows 19–26: Repeat Rows 11–18.
Rows 27–29: Repeat Rows 11–13.
Row 30: Ch 1, sc in each st. Fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing.
With wrong sides and ends of rows held together, fold in half and sew across first and last rows to form sides of pouch.
Flap
Note: After Round 1, continue in turned rows. Holding pouch with opening facing, join yarn with slip st in top right corner at back of pouch.
Round 1: Ch 1, working across ends of rows, work 43 sc evenly across back edge, work 44 sc evenly across front edge; join with slip st in first sc—87 sc.
Row 2: Ch 3, skip next st, dc in next st, *ch 1, skip next st, dc in next st; repeat from * 20 times, turn—22 dc and 21 ch-1 spaces.
Row 3: Ch 2, dc in first ch-1 space, *ch 1, skip next st, dc in next ch-1 space; repeat from * to beginning ch-2, dc in top of beginning ch-2, turn—23 dc and 20 ch-1 spaces.
Row 4: Ch 3, skip next st, dc in next ch-1 space, *ch 1, skip next st, dc in next ch-1 space; repeat from * to last 2 sts, ch 1, skip next st, dc in top of beginning ch-2, turn—22 dc and 21 ch-1 spaces.
Rows 5–24: Repeat Rows 3 and 4 ten times. Fasten off.
FINISHING
Weave in ends.
