    • #5 Bulky weight yarn; Premier Colorfusion Chunky or Tippy Tree Yarns hand dyed Bulky – 80 (90, 105) Yards or similar substitute
  • TOOLS:
    • US Size (L/11) 8.0mm crochet hook
    • Yarn needle, Scissors, Stitch Markers

  • ch – chain
  • st(s) – stitch(es)
  • sl st – slip stitch
  • sk – skip
  • sc – single crochet
  • fsc – foundation single crochet
  • dc – double crochet
  • blo – back loop only

Size:

  • to fit head circumference – Toddler (19”);Child (20”);Adult (21-22”)

Notes:

  • This hat is worked from the bottom up.
  • Beginning chains do not count as a stitch.
  • Parenthesis ( ) indicate stitches worked all in one st/sp.
  • Join with a sl st to the first st in that round and always work your first st in the same st as the join.
  • Need a more custom circumference? Adjust the band in a multiple of 2 stitches. Adjust the hat height by working more of the repeat round.

Instructions Crochet Cat Ear Beanie Pattern: Toddler (Child, Adult)

Band

Round 1: Fsc 34 (38, 44), join to first st – 34 (38, 44) sts.

Or alternatively ch 34 (38, 44), join to first ch, ch 1, sc in each ch around, join – 34 (38, 44) sts.

Rounds 2-4 (5, 5): Ch 1, blo sc in each around, join – 34 (38, 44) sts.

Hat

Round 1: Ch 1, (sc, dc) in first, sk 1, *(sc, dc) in next, sk 1; repeat from * around, join – 17 (19, 22) sc/dc

Rounds 2-11 (12, 13): Repeat Round 1. Do not fasten off after last round.

Turn hat inside out. Ch 1, sc last round together to close top of hat.

Fasten off and turn right side out.

With hat lying flat, measure approximately 2.5 (2.75, 3) inches in from each corner at top of hat and place a stitch marker at the measurement.

Cut 2 24-inch strands of yarn. Thread your yarn needle and using your stitch markers as a guide, stitch together with a running stitch on a diagonal from top stitch marker to the side stitch marker. Tug each strand end to tighten ear shape.

Secure and weave in ends.
