Materials needed for crochet mini purse.

Yarn—For this crochet mini purse, you can use any DK-weight yarn in the colors of your choice.

The prototype used two strands of Hobbii Twister (a sport weight to get DK weight).

Estimated Yardage = 45 yards

Any #3 weight of yarns can be substituted
Chains at the beginning of Rounds or Rows do not count as a stitch.

Crochet Mini Purse Free Pattern

Section 1: Back Panel

Crochet Mini Purse

Round 1: In a magic ring, ch 2 (does not count as a stitch), 12 hdc in magic ring. 12 hdc.

Skip the beginning chains, and do not join.

Place a stitch marker at the end of the round and move it after every round.

In the 3rd loop from here on.

Round 2: 2 hdc in each st around. 24 hdc

Round 3: *hdc in next, 2 hdc in next, repeat from * around. 36 hdc

Round 4: *hdc in next 2 sts, 2 hdc in next, repeat from * around. 48 hdc

Round 5: Sc in each st around. 48 sc

sl st to the next st to close the height difference. Cut yarn, leaving a tail for sewing.


Section 2: Front Panel

Round 1: In a magic ring, ch 2 (does not count as a stitch), 12 hdc in magic ring. 12 hdc.

In both loops from here:

Round 5: Sc in each st around. 48 sc

Section 3: Rose

Chain 125

Row 1: Dc in 5th ch from hook, *skip next 2 chs, ch 2, dc in next ch, rep from* to end, turn. 41 dc, 40 ch sp

Row 2: Ch 3 (counts as a st), 2 dc, ch 2, 3 dc, in first ch sp, *sc in next ch sp, 3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc in next ch sp, rep from * to end.

Fasten off.

Weave in all ends.

Fasten off.

Joining the rose to the back panel.
Pick one end of the rose and place it next to the center of the front panel, using either a darning needle or crochet hook and mattress stitch or sc.

Sew the rose to the braids on the back panel.

Cut yarn and sew in all ends.

Finishing off your crochet mini purse:

Place the front and back panels next to each other.

Sew the last rounds on the front and back panels, leaving 18 sts unjoined on both panels. This would be the opening.

Handle for your Mini Purse

Do not fasten off.

Step 1: Chain 61 (you may adjust the number to adjust the length of the handle)

Step 2: Skip the next 16 sts on the opening of your purse (this should correspond to either side where you started the joining of the front and back panels.
Step 3: Slip stitch to the other side of the opening.

Do not fasten off.

Slip stitch into each chain (on the handle) to give it more strength.


Button Hole

Crocheting across one side of the opening.

Row 1: Ch 1, sc in next 8 sts, ch 4, sc in remaining 8 sts.
Fasten off.

Sew a button on the other side.

There you have it, your crochet mini purse project.
