Crochet Even Moss Stitch

The Crochet Even Moss Stitch is a wonderful pattern for adding texture to your projects! With its alternating single crochet and chain stitch rows, this stitch creates a lovely raised effect that's perfect for blankets, scarves, and even sweaters. The best part? It's easy to learn and looks great on both sides, making it a versatile choice for all skill levels. So grab your hook and some yarn, and give this stitch a try - you'll be amazed at the beautiful texture you can create!

For this tutorial, I used a K crochet hook and some bulky weight yarn.

Begin with any odd number of chains (for the swatch in this tutorial, I did 15 chains),

Row One:

In the second chain from the hook, work a slip stitch,

Next, work a half double crochet into the next chain,

Repeat this sequence across, working a slip stitch into the next chain, then a half double crochet into the next chain and so on for the rest of the chains across,

Row Two:

Chain 1 (does not count as a stitch) and turn your work.

Next, work a slip stitch into the very first stitch,

Then, work a half double crochet into the next stitch,

Repeat this sequence across, working a slip stitch into the next stitch, then a half double crochet into the next stitch and so on for the rest of the stitches across, finishing the row by working a half double crochet into the very last stitch (sometimes it can be a little smooshed down at the end of the row).

To continue, repeat row two until your swatch/project is as tall as you like! Happy crocheting, lovelies!
