Materials

To make the cooking bear you will need:
– A Crochet hook, 2.5mm
– Brown, cream, white and tan yarn
– A tapestry needle and scissors
– Stuffing
– Safety eyes
– A stitch marker to help you keep track of the start of the round
Please note that you can make the cooking bear using any size crochet hook and yarn weight for a smaller or bigger result. I like using DK as it’s most commonly available. If you make amigurumi, it is usually recommended to go down a bit from the recommended hook size for the yarn to allow for a no-hole look (we don’t want to see the stuffing show through in between stitches)! Using DK yarn and a 2.5mm crochet hook, the bear should be about 15cm-20cm tall.

Stitches & Abbreviations
The pattern is written using US crochet terms in continuous spirals. You will need to know the following kinds of stitches:
– Chaining (Ch)

– Single crochet (sc)
– Half double crochet (Hdc)
– Double crochet (Dc)
– Decrease (dec); preferably using the invisible decrease method

Assembly
First of all, sew the head to the body. Sew on the ear, then the snout. Embroider a bit of a nose (and if you want, a mouth) onto the snout. Sew on the legs with the decrease part pointing upwards, making sure the bear can actually sit comfortably on them, then sew on the arms. Sew on the tail, and then sew on the chef hat. Lastly, sew the spoon to the arms. I also decided to sew him to the head for more stability.
