Materials Needed:

**small amount worsted weight yarn (I used A=orange, B=yellow)
**crochet hook size F (3.75mm)
**small amount polyester stuffing for plant poke only
**bamboo skewer (plant poke)
**magnetic strip (magnet)

Notes: Always start sc rounds with a ch1. This does NOT count as first st.
To crochet two sts together, leaving last loop of each st on hook, work specified st in next 2 (or 3) sts. YO, pull through ALL loops.

To start: (For plant poke, make 2 the same, for magnet make 1)
With A, ch4, join with sl st to form ring.
Rnd 1: 10 sc in ring.
Rnd 2: 2 sc in each st around. (20)
Rnd 3: (sc in 1 st, 2 sc in next) around. (30)
Rnd 4: Sc around. FO, weave in ends.
If making magnet, disregard the following, it is for the plant poke only:
Do NOT fasten off at end of second round. Hold both pieces wrong sides together, ch1, sc through both thicknesses around, stuffing fairly firmly before closing. Join, FO. (30)

For rays: Hold sun right side facing. Join yellow in any st.
*ch9, sc in 2nd ch from hook. Sc next 2 chs tog. Hdc next 2 sts together, 3dc in next ch, dc in next, tr in last. Sk 3 sts, sl st in next two. Continue from * around. Join to joining sl st. FO. (6 rays)
With right side facing, and working in front of first round of rays, join yellow in centre skipped st in front of any ray.
*ch9, sc in 2nd ch from hook. 3sc in next st, hdc in next. Dc next 3 sts tog, dc in next, tr in last. Skip 3 sts, sl st in 2. Repeat from * around. (6 rays)

For plant poke, insert bamboo skewer in bottom of sun, if desired, glue in place. For extra decoration, make a loopy bow with a few lengths of orange and yellow narrow ribbon, tie around skewer just below sun, leaving tails.
For magnet, glue magnetic strip on back.
Rays will tend to curl up a bit.
