Size I/9 (5.5 mm.) hook – or size needed to achieve gauge

Gauge: 11 dc = 4” in double crochet on size I hook
5 rows in “stripe” patt (2 dc rows + 3 openwork rows) = 2.5”

Edging:
Rnd 1: Continuing with MC, ch 1, sc evenly around entire piece so edging stays flat, placing 3 sc in ea corner (approx. 114 sc along ea side and end). Join with sl st, fasten off MC. Attach Color B, do not turn.
Rnd 2: Ch 1, sc in ea sc around, working 3 sc in ea corner. Note: Before proceeding with lace border, be sure to have 121 sc along ea short end of piece. Join with sl st and fasten off Color B, do not turn.
Lace border:
With right side facing you, attach Color A in right-hand corner at one short end of piece.
