RED HEART® Super Saver®: 1 skein each 947 Marrakesh A and 360 Cafe Latte B.

Susan Bates® Crochet Hook: 5.5mm [US I-9].

Yarn needle.

Hat circumference is 23” (58 cm). One size fits most.

GAUGE: 11 sc = 4” (10 cm); 12 rows = 4” (10 cm). CHECK YOUR GAUGE. Use any size hook to obtain the gauge.

Special Abbreviations

Fptr = Front post treble crochet (Yo) twice, insert hook from the front side of the work to back and to front again around the post of the indicated stitch on a previous row; yo and pull up a loop (4 loops on hook), (yo and draw through two loops) twice, yo and draw through two loops (1 loop on hook).

NOTE: Fedora is worked from top edge to lower edge. Stitches are picked up along opposite edge of foundation ch and worked for crown.

FEDORA

With B, ch 64.

Row 1: Hdc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across.

Row 2: Ch 2 (counts as hdc here and throughout), turn, hdc in each hdc across – 63 hdc.

Row 3: With A, ch 2, turn, hdc in next 2 hdc, *Fptr in next hdc 2 rows below, hdc in each of next 2 hdc; repeat from * across.

Row 4: Ch 2, turn, hdc in each st across.

Row 5: With B, repeat Row 3.

Row 6: Repeat Row 4.

Row 7: With A, repeat Row 3.

Row 8: Repeat Row 4.

Row 9: With B, repeat Row 3.

Row 10: Repeat Row 4. Do not fasten off.

With wrong sides together, fold piece in half crosswise. Working through both layers, slip st side edges together to Row 1. Do not fasten off.

Shape Crown

Round 11: With right side facing and working across opposite edge of foundation ch, ch 2, hdc in each st around, slip st in top of beginning ch to join – 63 hdc.

Round 12 (Wrong Side): Ch 2, turn, hdc in front loop of each hdc around, slip stitch in top of beginning ch.

Round 13 (Right Side): Ch 2, turn, *hdc in next 6 hdc, skip next hdc, repeat from * around, slip stitch in top of beginning ch – 56 hdc.

Round 14: Ch 1, *sc in next 3 hdc, skip next hdc; repeat from * around, slip st to first sc – 42 sc.

Rounds 15-16: Ch 1, sc in each sc around, slip st to first sc.Round 17: With right sides together, flatten last row in half and working through both layers, slip st evenly across to close. Fasten off.

Crown Band

Round 1: With right side facing and A, ch 1, sc in each st around, slip st in first sc – 63 sc.

Rounds 2-4: Ch 1, sc in each sc around, slip st to first sc.

Round 5: Ch 2, hdc in each sc around, slip st in top of beginning ch.

Shape Brim

Round 6: With B, ch 2, hdc in front loop of each hdc around, slip st in top of beginning ch.

Round 7: Ch 2, hdc in next 5 hdc, 2 hdc in next hdc, *hdc in next 6 hdc, 2 hdc in next hdc; repeat from * around, slip st in top of beginning ch – 70 hdc.

Round 8: Ch 2, hdc in each hdc around, slip st in top of beginning ch.

Round 9: Ch 1, *sc in next 6 hdc, 2 sc in next hdc, repeat * around, slip st to first sc – 77 sc.

Round 10: With A, ch 1, sc in each sc around, slip st in first sc.

Fasten off.

FINISHING

Weave in ends.
