Fptr (Front post treble crochet) = [Yarn over] twice, insert hook from front side of work to back and to front again around post of the indicated stitch; yarn over and pull up a loop (4 loops on hook), [yarn over and draw through 2 loops] 3 times.
shell = Fptr around center dc of next 3-stitch group; working behind Fptr just made, 3 dc in top of same dc; working in

Row 1 (right side): Ch 3 (counts as first dc here and throughout), turn, 3 dc in next st, *skip next 2 sts, 3 dc in next st; repeat from * to last st, dc in last st—104 dc (Thirty-four 3-dc groups and a dc at beg and end of row).
Row 2: Ch 3, turn, shell in center dc of each 3-dc group across, dc in top of turning ch—34 shells.
Row 3: Ch 3, turn, 3 dc in center dc of each shell across, dc in top of turning ch.
Rows 4–53: Repeat last 2 rows 25 more times.
Row 54: Repeat Row 2.
Row 55: Ch 1, turn, sc in first st, skip next st, sc in next 3 sts, *skip next 2 sts, sc in next 3 sts; repeat from * to last 2 sts, skip next st, sc in last st—104 sc.
Fasten off.
SIDE EDGINGS
With right side facing and working in ends of rows across one side edge, join yarn with sc in end of first row, 2 sc in end of each
row across to last row, sc in end of last row.
Fasten off. Repeat across other side edge.
FINISHING
Fold piece in half, bringing first and last rows together and matching up stitches of side edging. Beginning at corner, sew side edges together for about 9½” (24 cm), leaving about 8½” (21.5 cm) unsewn at top for armhole opening.
Weave in ends.
