Special Stitches

Front Post Double Crochet: (FPdc): Yo hook, insert hook from front to back to front around post of indicated st, yo hook, pull up lp, [yo hook, pull through 2 lps] twice.

Unless noted otherwise, always skip the st behind the FPdc.

Back Post Double Crochet: (BPdc): Yo hook, insert hook from back to front to back around post of indicated st, yo hook, pull up lp, [yo hook, pull through 2 lps] twice.

COASTER

Rnd 1: (Right Side) Holding 1 strand Pastels and 1 strand White together, with larger hook, ch 4; join with sl st to first ch to form ring; ch 4 (counts as first dc and ch 1, now and throughout), [3 dc in ring, ch 1] 5 times, 2 dc in ring; join with sl st to first dc. (18 dc and 6 ch-1 sps)

Rnd 2: Sl st in ch-1 sp, ch 4, dc in same sp, FPdc in next dc, BPdc in next dc, FPdc in next dc, [(dc, ch 1, dc) in next ch-1 sp, FPdc in next dc, BPdc in next dc, FPdc in next dc] around; join as before.

Rnd 3: Sl st in next ch-1 sp, ch 4, dc in same sp, [BPdc in next dc, FPdc in next dc] twice, BPdc in next dc, * (dc, ch 1, dc) in next ch-1 sp, [BPdc in next dc, FPdc in next dc] twice, BPdc in next dc; rep from * around; join as before.

Rnd 4: Sl st in next ch-1 sp, ch 4, dc in same sp, [FPdc in next dc, BPdc in next dc] 3 times, FPdc in next dc, * (dc, ch 1, dc) in next ch-1 sp, [FPdc in next dc, BPdc in next dc] 3 times, FPdc in next dc; rep from * around; join as before.

Rnd 1: With right side facing, using single strand Pastel thread and smaller hook, sl st in next ch-1 sp, ch 3 (counts as first dc), 6 dc in same sp, [skip next dc, sc in next dc, skip next dc, 5 dc in next dc] twice, skip next dc, sc in next dc, skip next dc, * 7 dc in next ch-1 sp, [skip next dc, sc in next dc, skip next dc, 5 dc in next dc] twice, skip next dc, sc in next dc, skip next dc; rep from * around; join as before. Finish off and weave in ends.
