Materials:


Worsted weight yarn (like Red Heart Supersaver yarn) in 2 colors; Color A (CA) and Color B (CB)
Size H hook (5.00mm)
Yarn needle
Stitch marker
Scissors


Finish Size: Will fit 21" inch adult size head, 8" inches heightwise.

Gauge: First 3 rounds of pattern should equal 3" inches.

Different stitches:


Front Post Double Crochet (Fpdc)
Reverse Single crochet

Note: First part of pattern is crocheted in a continuous spiral. Mark first stitch of each round moving stitch marker up as you go along as you go, until noted not too.

Directions:


Rnd 1: With Color A (CA) ch4, join with slst to 4th chain from hook to form ring, ch1, 6sc in ring. (6sc)

Rnd 2: 2 sc in each st around. (12sc)

Rnd 3: [1sc in next st, 2 sc in next st] Do this 6 times (18sc)

Rnd 4: [1 sc in each of the next 2 sts, 2 sc in next st] do this 6 times. (24sc)

Rnd 5: [1 sc in each of the next 3 sts, 2 sc in next st] do this 6 times. (30sc)

Rnd 6: [1 sc in each of the next 4 sts, 2 sc in next st] do this 6 times. (36sc)

Rnd 7: [1 sc in each of the next 5 sts, 2 sc in next st] do this 6 times. (42sc)

Rnd 8: [1 sc in each of the next 6 sts, 2 sc in next st] do this 6 times. (48sc)

Rnd 9: [1 sc in each of the next 7 sts, 2 sc in next st] do this 6 times. (54sc)

Rnd 10: [1 sc in each of the next 8 sts, 2 sc in next st] do this 6 times. (60sc)

Rnd 11: [1 sc in each of the next 14 sts, 2 sc in next st] do this 4 times (64sc)

Rnd 12: 1sc in each st around. (64sc)

Rnds 13-15: Repeat Rnd 12 for Rnds 13 thru 15. (64sc)

Rnd 16: 1 sc in each st around color changing to Color B (CB) when doing last sc in Round, Do not fasten off Color A (CA), slst in next st. (64sc)

Leave stitch marker where it is to mark first st of that round.

Notes:
You will now start joining your rounds with slip stitches (slst).

You will work with both colors of yarn on and off. When not working with one color you will leave it dropped, do not carry it in your work. you will pick it back up when you change back to the color, so the unused yarn will travel up the wrongside of your work (inside of hat).

Rnd 17: With Color B (CB) Ch1, 1 sc in same st as slst, 1 sc in each of the next 62 sts, 1 sc in next st color changing to Color A (CA), join with slst to first sc. (64sc)

Note: only work in previous previous Rounds when instructed to.

Rnd 18: With CA ch1, (Do not work in same stitch as joining, it will count as a skipped stitch), 1 sc in each of the next 3 sts, 1 Fpdc around post of 4th sc from stitch marker on Rnd16, [skip next st, 1 sc in each of the next 3 sts, 1 Fpdc around post of 4th st on Rnd16 away from last Fpdc was made] do this 14 times, skip next st, 1 sc in each of the next 3 sts, 1 Fpdc around post of 4th st on Rnd16 away from last Fpdc was made color changing to CB, join with slst to first sc. (48sc, 16 Fpdc)

Rnd 19: With CB Ch1, 1 sc in same st as joining, 1 sc in next st, 1 Fpdc around post of 3rd st made of Rnd17, [skip next st, 1 sc in each of the next 3 sts, 1 Fpdc in 4th st on Rnd17 away from last Fpdc was made] do this 15 times, skip next st, 1 sc in next st color changing to CA, join with slst to first sc. (48sc, 16 Fpdc)

Rnd 20: With CA ch1 (Do not work in same stitch as joining this will count as a skipped st), 1 sc in each of the next 3 sts, 1 Fpdc around post of first Fpdc of Rnd18, [skip next st, 1 sc in each of the next 3 sts, 1 Fpdc around post of next Fpdc on Rnd18] do this 14 times, skip next st, 1 sc in each of the next 3 sts, 1 Fpdc around post of next Fpdc on Rnd18 color changing to CB, join with slst to first sc. (48sc, 16 Fpdc)

Rnd 21: With CB ch1, 1 sc in same st as joining, 1 sc in next st, 1 Fpdc around post of first Fpdc of Rnd19, [skip next st, 1 sc in each of the next 3 sts, 1 Fpdc around post of next Fpdc on Rnd19] do this 15 times, skip next st, 1 sc in next st color changing to CA, join with slst to first sc. (48sc, 16 Fpdc)

Rnd 22: With CA ch1 (Do not work in same stitch as joining this will count as a skipped st), 1 sc in each of the next 3 sts, 1 Fpdc around post of first Fpdc of Rnd20, [skip next st, 1 sc in each of the next 3 sts, 1 Fpdc around post of next Fpdc on Rnd20] do this 14 times, skip next st, 1 sc in each of the next 3 sts, 1 Fpdc around post of next Fpdc on Rnd20 color changing to CB, join with slst to first sc. (48sc, 16 Fpdc)

Rnd 23: With CB ch1, 1 sc in same st as joining, 1 sc in next st, 1 Fpdc around post of first Fpdc of Rnd21,[skip next st, 1 sc in each of the next 3 sts, 1 Fpdc around post of next Fpdc on Rnd21] Do this 15 times, skip next st, 1 sc in next st color changing to CA, join with slst to first sc. (28sc, 16 Fpdc)

Rnd 24: With CA ch1 (Do not work in same stitch as joining this will count as a skipped st), 1 sc in each of the next 3 sts, 1 Fpdc around post of first Fpdc of Rnd22, [skip next st, 1 sc in each of the next 3 sts, 1 Fpdc around post of next Fpdc on Rnd22] do this 14 times, skip next st, 1 sc in each of the next 3 sts, 1 Fpdc around post of next Fpdc on Rnd22 color changing to CB, join with slst to first sc. Rnd 26: With CA ch1 (Do not work in same stitch as joining this will count as a skipped st), 1 sc in each of the next 3 sts, 1 Fpdc around post of first Fpdc of Rnd24, [skip next st, 1 sc in each of the next 3 sts, 1 Fpdc around post of next Fpdc on Rnd24] do this 14 times, skip next st, 1 sc in each of the next 3 sts, 1 Fpdc around post of next Fpdc on Rnd24 color changing to CB, join with slst to first sc. Rnd 27: With CB ch1, 1 sc in same st as joining, 1 sc in next st, 1 Fpdc around post of first Fpdc of Rnd25,[skip next st, 1 sc in each of the next 3 sts, 1 Fpdc around post of next Fpdc on Rnd25] Do this 15 times, skip next st, 1 sc in next st color changing to CA, join with slst to first sc. Rnd 28: With CA ch1 (Do not work in same stitch as joining this will count as a skipped st), 1 sc in each of the next 3 sts, 1 Fpdc around post of first Fpdc of Rnd26, [skip next st, 1 sc in each of the next 3 sts, 1 Fpdc around post of next Fpdc on Rnd26] do this 14 times, skip next st, 1 sc in each of the next 3 sts, 1 Fpdc around post of next Fpdc on Rnd26 color changing to CB, join with slst to first sc. Fasten off Color A (CA)

Rnd 29: With CB ch1, 1 sc in same st as joining, 1 sc in next st, 1 Fpdc around post of first Fpdc of Rnd27,[skip next st, 1 sc in each of the next 3 sts, 1 Fpdc around post of next Fpdc on Rnd27] Do this 15 times, skip next st, 1 sc in next st, join with slst to first sc. (28sc, 16 Fpdc)

Rnd 30: Ch1, 1 sc in same st as joining, 1 sc in each of the next 63 sts, join with slst to first sc. (64sc)

Rnd 31: Ch1, Reverse Single Crochet in each st around, join with slst to first Reverse single crochet made.

Finish off, secure and weave in ends.
