dc = double crochet
fpdc = front post double crochet

Special Stitch:

V-Stitch (V): (Dc, ch 1, dc) in indicated st or sp.

Instructions:

Band:

With blue and smaller hook, Ch 82 loosely

Do not join the chain to work in the round – joining after rnd 1 instead will make it easier to join without twisting. This will leave a small gap at the bottom that you can sew closed when you weave in the tail.

Rnd 1 (RS): Turn, (first 3 chs count as dc), dc in 4th ch from hook and in each ch across, join with sl st to first st, changing to brown. (80 dc).

Do not cut yarns when changing colors. Since the color is changed in every rnd, it’s ok to carry the yarn up to the next rnd.

Rnd 2: With brown, ch 2 (counts as bpdc), (fpdc around next st, bpdc around next st) around to last st, fpdc around last st, join with sl st to first st, changing to blue.

For rounds 3-9, you should always be working fpdc stitches around fpdc stitches, and bpdc stitches around bpdc stitches. This creates the ribbing effect.

Rnd 3: Do not turn. With blue, ch 2 (counts as bpdc), (fpdc around next st, bpdc around next st) around to last st, fpdc around last st, join with sl st to first st, changing to B.

Rnds 4-9: Repeat Rnds 2-3 three times. At the end of rnd 8, cut brown. At the end of rnd 9, do not change colors, fasten off blue.
