​Knit Leaves Coasters

You’ll need:

1 skein of white yarn (55% merino wool, 45% cotton; 124m/50g);

1 skein of the same yarn, but in light-salmon color;

1 skein of the same yarn, but in brown color;

Knitting needles 4.


Size: 16 x 10 cm.

Used Patterns

Stockinette stitch: in RS row – knit sts, in WS row – purls, in circle row – knit sts;

1 increase to the right: transfer broaching between sts towards yourself to the LH needle and make it as knit st;

1 increase to the left: transfer broaching between sts away from yourself to the LH needle and make it as knit st;

1 simple decrease: slip 1 knit st, 1 knit st, draw it through the slipped st;

1 double decrease: slip 1 knit st, knit2tog, draw it through the slipped st;

Purl2tog to the left: transfer 2 sts to the RH needle and twist (2nd st is in front of, 1st st is behind), return them to the LH needle and make as purl2tog through back loop.

Note: work in 2 threads of yarn.

Stitches control: 18 sts = 10 cm of srockinette stitch.

Instructions

Cast on 3 sts, step back 20 cm from the beginning of yarn (for stalket).

1st row (WS) row: 3 knit sts;

2nd row: 1 knit st, 1 increase to the right, 1 knit st, 1 increase to the left, 1 knit st;

3rd row: 5 knit sts;

4th row: 2 knit sts, 1 purl, 2 knit sts;

5th row: 2 knit sts, 1 increase to the right, 1 knit st, 1 increase to the left, 2 knit sts;

6th and all the following WS rows: 2 knit sts, purl to the last 2 sts of row, 2 knit sts;

7th row: 3 knit sts, 1 yarn over, 1 knit st, 1 yarn over, 3 knit sts;

9th row: 4 knit sts, 1 yarn over, 1 knit st, 1 yarn over, 4 knit st;

11th row: 5 knit sts, 1 yarn over, 1 knit st, 1 yarn over, 5 knit st;

13th row: 6 knit sts, 1 yarn over, 1 knit st, 1 yarn over, 6 knit st;

15th row: 7 knit sts, 1 yarn over, 1 knit st, 1 yarn over, 7 knit st;

17th row: 8 knit sts, 1 yarn over, 1 knit st, 1 yarn over, 8 knit st;

19th, 21st, 23rd, 25th and 27th rows: knit;

29th row: 2 knit sts, 1 simple decrease, knit to the last 4 sts of row, knit2tog, 2 knit sts. Repeat these decreases in every 3rd row. Make knit sts in RS rows without decreases.

Note: while making decreases from WS, make purl2tog after 2 knit sts and purl2tog to the left before the last 2 knit sts. When there are 7 sts left, make the next RS row in the following way: 2 knit sts, slip 1 knit st, knit2tog, draw it through slipped st, 1 knit st.

Make all knit sts in WS row: 1 knit st, slip 1 knit st, knit2tog, draw it through the slipped st, 1 knit st. Cut the yarn and draw it through the last st.

Stalket

Cast on 1 st on set-up yarn at the base of leaf and cast on 3 more sts. Make 1 row of knit sts and bind them off at the same time.
