​Fancy Tube Skirt

You'll need:

200g of Alize "Angora Gold Batik" yarn (500m/100g) (80% acryl, 10% mohair, 10% wool); 300g of 100% wool yarn Alize "Cashmere Fine" (450m/100g);

Knitting needles 4.

Fancy knitting is a little bit different from ordinary: two or three yarn threads are used in work by turn due to the pattern. Thread, that isn't used in right side rows is behind your work, in wrong side rows - in front of it (photos 1 and 2). Before changing colours, straigten your work on the right hand needle, draw the broaching thread along already knit sts and hold them with your right hand until you make some new sts. Broachings 3-4 sts long should be binded by means of overwinding threads of yarn. Start the next row with new colour of yarn, make selvedge st.

Instructions

Start knitting with side insets due to the scheme A. Cast on the needed quantity of sts and knit due to the skirt height design. Subtract the width of inset from 1/2 hips circumference + 4 cm (for loose fitting on), and you'll get the size of the main part of your work. Knit the pattern due to the scheme B. Knit wrong side rows with one-colour yarn. Pattern, drawn with crosses and right side rows are knitted with "Batik" yarn. Define with the stitches control. Due to this scheme count the needed quantity of sts and correct it till the full quantity of patterns + 3 sts for symmetry. Knit two pieces of cloth, starting with 1 x 1 rib. Knit right side with main yarn and wrong side with auxiliary. The height of the rib is the same as inset rib height. Then goes fancy knitting. Sew the parts with kitchener stitch with side insets. Cast on sts on the top of your skirtand knit 4 cm with stockinette st. Bind off the sts, twist the work, sew on the line of casting. Insert the elastic ribbon.
