Bright Crochet Beret
You’ll need:
0.44-3.4 oz or 49-378 yds of Lion Brand Mandala (Size 3 Yarn);
Crochet hook 4 mm;
Yarn needle;
Scissors.
Stitches control: 11 DC X 6 Rows = 2.5 inches
Note: A preemie size will use 0.44oz/49 yds of yarn. A child size will use 1.45oz/156 yds of yarn and a large adult will use 3.4oz/ 378 yds of yarn.
Special Stitches
Double Crochet 2 Stitches Together – DC2TOG – *YO, insert hook into next ST and pull up a loop, YO, pull the first loop through the second and third loop on the hook* repeat from *to* a total of 2 times. YO, pull the first loop through all 2 loops on the hook.

Row 1: Make a Magic Circle, CH2, and work 12 DC into the Magic Circle. SLST to the first DC. (12)
Row 2: CH2, *Work 2DC into the next ST* repeat from *to* a total of 12 times. SLST to the first DC. (24)
Row 3: CH2, *DC in next ST, Work 2DC in next ST* repeat from *to* a total of 12 times. SLST to the first DC. (36)
Row 4: CH2, *DC in next 2 STs, Work 2DC in next ST* repeat from *to* a total of 12 times. SLST to the first DC.(48)

In this part we will simple work an even rows around the hat.
Part 2 Row: CH2, DC in each ST around. SLST to first DC. (Stitch count is the same as the last row worked in part 1.)
Preemie Size: Work 2 rows of Part 2 Row.
Newborn Size: Work 2 rows of Part 2 Row.
Baby Size: Work 3 rows of Part 2 Row.
Child Size: Work 3 rows of Part 2 Row.
Small Adult Size: Work 3 rows of Part 2 Row.
Adult Size: Work 3 rows of Part 2 Row.
Part 3
Part 3 Row 1: CH2, *DC in next 3(5, 7, 8, 9, 10), DC2TOG* repeat from *to* a total of 12 times. SLST to first DC. (48, 72, 96, 108, 120, 132)
Part 3 Row 2: CH2, *DC in next 2(4, 6, 7, 8, 9), DC2TOG* repeat from *to* a total of 12 times. SLST to first DC. (36, 60, 84, 96, 108, 120)
Part 3 Row 3: CH2, *DC in next –(3, 5, 6, 7, 8), DC2TOG* repeat from *to* a total of 12 times. SLST to first DC. (–, 48, 72, 84, 96, 108)
Part 3 Row 4: CH2, *DC in next –(–, 4, 5, 6, 7), DC2TOG* repeat from *to* a total of 12 times. SLST to first DC. (–, –, 60, 72, 84, 96)
Now we have decreased out hat to make the common beret shape, we just need to add a hat band and we will be done.
Part 4
Note: In this part of the pattern our stitch count will not change at all. Each size will have amount of stitches from the last row worked in part three to the end of the project.
Part 4 Row 1: CH2, DC in each ST around. SLST to first DC.
Part 4 Row 2-5: CH2, *FPHDC in next ST, BPHDC in next ST* repeat from *to* until the end of the row. SLST to first FPHDC.
Note: If you are a beginner you may find working a Front post and back post double crochet easier than the half double crochet. Feel free to work double crochet post stitches instead if it is easier.
After Part 4 Row 5 fasten off leaving a long enough yarn tail to weave in your ends. You should only have two ends to weave in.
