​Knit Red Cardigan

You’ll need:

175 (175) 200 (200)g of red (70% mohair, 30% silk; 210m/25g);

Knitting needles 6 and 7;

Auxiliary needle.

Size: M (L) XL (2XL).

Used Patterns

Pearl pattern: * 1 knit st, 1 purl*, replace the pattern in the next rows.

Cables pattern the quantity of sts is multiple 12 + 2 selvage sts.

1^st row (RS): all knit sts;

2^nd and all WS rows: purl;

3^rd row: 1 selvage st, * transfer 3 sts to the auxiliary needle in front of work, 3 knit sts, 3 knit sts from the auxiliary needle*; repeat from * to *, 1 selvage st;

5^th row: knit sts;

7^th row: 1 selvage st, * 6 knit sts, transfer 3 sts to the auxiliary needle behind work, 3 knit sts, 3 knit sts from the auxiliary needle*; repeat from * to *, 1 selvage st.

Repeat 1^st-8^th rows.

Stitches control: 15 sts x 18 rows = 10 x 10 cm.

Instructions

Left Front

Cast on 123 sts with thick knitting needle and work with cables pattern, decrease 1 st in every 2^nd and 4^th rows by turn from the left side for shoulder chamfer. In 25 (27) 29 (31) cm from the set-up row, bind off 54 (51) 48 (45) sts for side seams on the right side. Then, decrease 1 st in every 2^nd and 4^th rows by turn from the left side for sleeve chamfer, decrease 6 x 1 st in every row on right side, then, decease 6 x 1 st in every 6^th row. In 50 cm from the set-up row, bind off the rest sts.

Right Front

Make in reflection to the left front.

Left Side of Back

Cast on 122 sts with thick knitting needles and work with cables pattern for 8 cm, then, make decreases in the same way, as for the right front.

Right Side of Back

Make in symmetry to the left side of back.

Assembly

Make sleeve, upper shoulder, side and lower edges of sleeves, the central back seam. Cast on 43 (47) 51 (55) sts with thin knitting needles and make 7 cm of pearl pattern with circle rows, then, bind off all sts. Cast on 156 (164) 172 (180) sts along the edge of cardigan and work with pearl pattern for 10 cm, then, bind off all sts. For collar, cast on 264 sts with knitting needles along the edges of front and back neck-hole and make 16 cm of pearl pattern, then, bind off all sts loosely.
