​Knit Brown Jacket

You’ll need:

750g of Cool Wool 2000 yarn in brown color (100% Merino wool; 160m/50g);

Knitting needles 3 and 3,5;

4 buttons.

Used Patterns

Half-patent pattern: the quantity of sts should be odd. Start and finish every row with 1 selvedge st.

1^st row (WS): 1 purl, 1 knit st by turn, finish with 1 purl;

2^nd row (RS): * 1 knit st, slip the next st with yarn over as purl*; repeat from * to *, finish with 1 knit st;

3^rd row (WS): 1 purl, * knit2tog, 1 purl*; repeat from * to *.

Repeat 1^st-3^rd rows x once, then, repeat 2^nd-3^rd rows.

Special decreases: from the right side: 1 selvedge st, 6 sts of half-patent pattern, knit3tog;

From the left side: knit2tog as broaching (slip 1 knit st, knit2tog, draw it through the slipped st), 6 sts of half-patent pattern, 1 selvedge st.

Special increases: from the right side: 1 selvedge st, 6 sts of half-patent pattern, include 1 cross knit st from transversal thread of yarn in the pattern;

From the left side: include 1 cross knit st from transversal thread of yarn in the pattern, 6 sts of half-patent pattern, 1 selvedge st.

Stitches control: 25 sts x 47 rows = 10 х 10 cm.

Instructions

Back

Cast on 131 sts with knitting needles 3 and work with half-patent pattern. In 2 cm from the set-up row, turn to knitting needles 3,5. In 7 cm from the set-up row, make special decreases for better fitting from both sides: 4 x 2 sts in every 8^th row, 4 x 2 sts in every 6^th row = 99 sts. In 19 cm from the set-up row, make special increases from both sides: 10 x 1 st in every 8^th row = 119 sts. In 38 cm from the set-up row, make special decreases of 4 sts for arm-holes from both sides, then, decrease 2 x 2 sts in every 4^th row, 2 x 2 sts in every 6^th row and 2 x 2 sts in every 8^th row = 87 sts. In 58 cm from the set-up row, bind off 5 sts from both sides for shoulder chamfers and 3 x 5 sts in every 2^nd row. In 60cm from the set-up row, bind off the rest 47 sts, the central 37 sts form neck-hole.

Left Front

Cast on 123 sts with knitting needles 3 and work with half-patent pattern. In 2 cm from the set-up row, turn to knitting needles 3,5. Make decreases and increases from the right side for better fitting, arm-holes and shoulder chamfers – in the same way, as back. At the same time, in 18 cm from the set-up row, make button-holes from the left-side. For this, bind off the 6^th and 5^th sts from the end of row and cast them on in the next row. In 24 cm from the set-up row, make second button-hole. In 25 cm from set-up row, make special decreases from the left side for neck-hole chamfer: 24 x 2 sts in every 2^nd row, 2 x 2 sts in every 4^th row, 2 x 2 sts in every 6^th row, 6 x 2 sts in every 8^th, 6 x 2 sts in every 10^th row. Bind off the rest 5 sts at the height of back.

Right Front

Make in symmetry to the left front with 2 holes for buttons. Make the first hole in 18 cm from the set-up row from the right side. For this, bind off the 6^th and 5^th sts and cast them on again in the next row.In 24 cm from the set-up row, make the second hole. Then, turn to knitting needles 4,5 and work with leaves pattern. At the same time, make increases for sleeve chamfers due to the pattern design. In 40 cm from rib, bind off all the sts.

Sleeves

Cast on 73 sts with knitting needles 3 and work with half-patent pattern. In 2 cm from set-up row, turn to knitting needles 3,5. In 12 cm from set-up row, increase 1 st from both sides for sleeve chamfers, 8 x 1 st in every 12^th row and 5 x 1 st in every 10^th row, include the increased sts in the pattern. In 44 cm from the set-up row, bind off 4 sts from both sides for sleeve caps and make special decreases: 4 x 2 sts in every 2^nd row, 5 x 2 sts in every 4^th row, 2 x 2 sts in every 6^th row, 5 x 2 sts in every 4^th row, 2 x 2 sts in every 2^nd row. In 58 cm from the set-up row, bind off the rest 21 sts.

Assembly

Make shoulder seams. Sew up the sleeves, make side and sleeve seams. Sew the buttons.
