US – 7, 4.5 mm

Gauge:

18 sts x 9 rows = 4” [10 cm] in double crochet

Special Stitches

Pattern

Cap-ulet Band

Row 1 (wrong side): Ch 8 (9, 10, 11, 12), sc in second ch from hook and each remaining ch. {7 (8, 9, 10, 11) sc}

Row 2 (right side): Turn, ch 1, sc in back loop only of each st across.

Repeat Row 2 until there are 54 (60, 68, 74, 80) Rows total

Fold Hat Band into a loop with right sides together and sl st the starting chain to the top of the last row.

Do not fasten off. Flip Hat Band so the right side is on the outside.


Cap-ulet Body

The Hat Band will have vertical ribs, the Hat Body is worked into the top of the Hat Band by stitching into the outer peak of each rib.

Rnd 1: Sl st in peak of first rib, svst in same st, vst in each peak around, sl st to 3rd ch of beginning ch-4. {27 (30, 34, 37, 40) sts}

Rnd 2: Sl st in first ch-1 sp, svst in same sp, vst in each ch-1 around, sl st to 3rd ch of beginning ch-4.
