Tips and Tricks for Crochet Headbands
How to Sew Elastic Band onto the Project
If desired, you can add an elastic band onto your headband to hold it closed rather than using the tie straps. To do this, you will want to use some thin elastic and make a small sewn tube out of the same color fabric as the yarn you are using.
Once your tube is created, fish your elastic through the tube holding onto one end, so that it doesn’t get lost in the tube. Sew the elastic in place at both ends of the tube, then either using your sewing machine or hand stitch the elastic band onto each side of your headband at the base.
Attaching to an Elastic Hair Tie
If one size fits all isn’t true for you, or you prefer to use an elastic band rather than ties, you can also use an elastic hair tie. To do this, crochet one side of the hairband to the base of your headband, then if desired, you can tie a knot in the hairband before crocheting the other side to your lace headband. With the elastic hair tie now attached, you can easily slide the headband on and off, without worrying about the tie.
