MATERIALS
Sugar ‘n Cream Yarn (100% Cotton; 70.9 g/ 2.5oz.;109m/120yds); Worsted Weight

  • Main Color (MC) – (01005) White – approx. 40-60 yards
  • Button, about 7/8″ / (23-25 mm);
  • Matching thread and needle.

CROCHET HOOK
F/5 (3.75 mm) crochet hook OR SIZE TO OBTAIN GAUGE.

GAUGE
22 sts and 5 rows to 4”/10 cm over lace pattern

Notes: Be sure to check your gauge before starting to crochet. If the gauge is larger, change to a smaller hook size, or work tightly. If it is smaller, change to a larger hook size, or work loosely.

INSTRUCTIONS

Notes:

  1. Instructions are written for the smallest size with changes for larger sizes given in parentheses. When only one number is given, it applies to all sizes.
  2. For ease in working, circle all numbers pertaining to size you’re making.
  3. To avoid mistake(s), count stitches in each round, or row when finished.
  4. Ch 1 at beg of rows does not count as st throughout.
  5. Ch 3 at beg of rows count as dc throughout.

HEADBAND

Ch 8, join with slip st to form a ring.
Rnd 1: Ch 1, 14 sc in ring; join with slip st to first sc – 14 sc.

Row 2: Ch 3, (dc in next st, ch 1, 2 dc) in next st, ch 1, skip next st, (2 dc, ch 1, 2 dc) in next st, ch 1. Turn – 8 dc, 3 ch-1 sps.

Row 3: Skip first dc, sl st in next dc, sl st in next ch-1 space, (ch 3, dc, ch 1, 2 dc) in same ch-1 sp, ch 1, skip 2 dc, (2 dc, ch 1, 2 dc) in next ch-1 sp, ch 1, skip 2 dc, (2 dc, ch 1, 2 dc) in last ch-1 sp, ch 1. Turn – 12 dc, 5 ch-1 spaces.

Row 4: Skip first dc, sl st in next dc, sl st in next ch-1 space, (ch 3, dc, ch 1, 2 dc) in same ch-1 sp, ch 2, skip next 5 sts, (2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc) in next ch-1 sp, ch 2, skip next 5 sts, (2 dc, ch 1, 2 dc) in last ch-1 sp, ch 1. Turn – 12 dc, 2 ch-1 sps, 3 ch-2 sps.

Row 6: Skip first dc, sl st in next dc, sl st in next ch-1 space, (ch 3, dc, ch 1, 2 dc) in same ch-1 sp, ch 2, skip next 7 sts, (3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc) in next ch-2 sp, ch 2, skip next 7 sts, (2 dc, ch 1, 2 dc) in last ch-1 sp, ch 1. Turn – 14 dc, 2 ch-1 sps, 3 ch-2 sps.

Rows 7–22 (7–25 , 7–28): Repeat last row 16 (19, 22) times.

Rows 23 (26, 29): Skip first dc, sl st in next dc, sl st in next ch-1 space, (ch 3, dc, ch 1, 2 dc) in same ch-1 sp, ch 2, skip next 7 sts, (2 dc, ch 1, 2 dc) in next ch-2 sp, ch 2, skip next 7 sts, (2 dc, ch 1, 2 dc) in last ch-1 sp, ch 1. Turn – 12 dc, 3 ch-1 sps, 2 ch-2 sps.

Rows 24 (27, 30): Skip first dc, sl st in next dc, sl st in next ch-1 space, (ch 3, dc, ch 1, 2 dc) in same ch-1 sp, ch 1, skip next 6 sts, (2 dc, ch 1, 2 dc) in next ch-1 sp, ch 1, skip next 6 sts, (2 dc, ch 1, 2 dc) in last ch-1 sp, ch 1. Turn – 12 dc, 5 ch-1 sps.

Rows 25 (28, 31): Skip first dc, sl st in next dc, sl st in next ch-1 space, (ch 3, dc, ch 1, 2 dc) in same ch-1 sp, skip next 5 sts, 2 dc in next ch-1 sp, skip next 5 sts, (2 dc, ch 1, 2 dc) in last ch-1 sp, ch 1. Turn – 10 dc,
2 ch-1 sps.

Rows 26 (29, 32): Skip first dc, sl st in next dc, sl st in next ch-1 space, (ch 3, dc) in same ch-1 sp, skip next sts, dc in each of next 3 sts, skip next 2 sts, 2 dc in last ch-1 sp, ch 1. Turn – 7 dc.

Rows 27 (30, 33): Skip first dc, sl st in next dc, ch 3, dc in each of next 4 sts – 5 dc.

Fasten off.

FLOWER

Ch 8, join with slip st to form a ring.

Rnd 1: Ch 1, 12 sc in ring; join with slip st to first sc – 12 sc.

Rnd 2: Ch 4, skip next st, * sc in next st, ch 3, skip next st; rep from * around; join with slip st to first ch of beg ch 4 – 6 petals.

Rnd 3: Ch 1, (sc, 5 dc, sc) in each ch-3 space around; join with slip st to first sc – 6 petals.

Fasten off. Secure yarn to WS.

FINISHING

Sew button to Headband on the opposite side of a loop. Place Flower on top of button after buttoning.
