Hat Instructions
Start with your main color
Make a magic ring
Round 1
Ch 4, dc, V stitch 5 times, join to the top of first ch 3, pull ring closed (6 V stitches)
Round 2
Slip stitch over to ch 1 space, ch 4, dc in same space, V stitch in between V stitches from previous round, *V stitch in next ch 1 space, V stitch in between next V stitches from previous round* repeat from * to * around, join to the top of first ch 3 (12 V stitches)
Round 3
Slip stitch over to ch 1 space, ch 4, dc in same space, V stitch in next ch 1 space, V stitch in between next V stitches from previous round, *V stitch in next two V stitches, V stitch in between next V stitches from previous round* repeat from * to * around, join to the top of first ch 3 (18 V stitches)
Round 4
Slip stitch over to ch 1 space, ch 4, dc in same space, V stitch in next two ch 1 spaces, V stitch in between next V stitches from previous round, *V stitch in next three V stitches, V stitch in between next V stitches from previous round* repeat from * to * around, join to the top of first ch 3 (24 V stitches)
Rounds 5 – 10
Slip stitch over to ch 1 space, ch 4, dc in same space, V stitch in each ch 1 space around, join to top of first ch 3 (24 V stitches)
Join contrasting color

Ch 2, hdc in same st, hdc in each st and ch around, join to the top of first hdc (72 hdc)

Ch 2, hdc in same stitch, hdc in next 5 stitches, 2 hdc in next, *hdc in next 6 stitches, 2 hdc in next* repeat from * to * 12 times, hdc in last 2 stitches, join to the top of first hdc (114 hdc)
Fasten off, weave in the ends.
Rose Instructions
With your contrasting color
Ch 76 (starting chain has to be a multiple of 3 + 1)
Row 1
Dc in 4th chain from hook, (ch 2, dc) all in same chain space, *skip 2 chains, (dc, ch 2, dc) all in next* repeat from * to * across
Row 2
Sl st into first chain 2 space, ch 3 (counts as dc), dc 4 into same space, *sc in between next two dc, 5 dc in ch 2 space* repeat from * to * across
Fasten off, leave a long tail for sewing.
Roll it up like a rose. Try to keep the bottom lined up nice and tight.
Using your yarn needle and the long tail for sewing, secure the bottom of the rose by weaving it through the bottom, making sure to get all the layers.
Fasten off, leave a long tail for sewing.
Sew the rose to the hat, on top of the coordinating stripe.
